Dr. A. Bakandritsos is a Group leader in  CATRIN-RCPTM Senior Researcher at VSB-TUO in the field of functionalization of nanomaterials, such as nanocarbons and inorganic nanoparticles tailored for their application in energy storage, biomedicine and catalysis. He received his BSc in 2001 and PhD in 2006 in chemistry from the A.U. of Thessaloniki and from N.C.S.R. “Demokritos” in Athens, respectively. He performed post-doctoral research at the Institute of Physical Chemistry at “Demokritos”, and also worked as a visiting scientist for short periods of time at RCPTM (Czech Republic), at the Dept. of Physical Chemistry and Materials Science at the University of Szeged, Hungary and at the Materials Science Dept., Cornell University, USA. In 2012 he was elected at the Dept. of Materials Science, University of Patras as a lecturer and later as an assistant professor until 2015-2016, when he joined RCPTM. Research results have been published in more than 120 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 38). He has co-authored or has been principal investigator in several national and international (HORIZON) projects, and mentor in MSCA fellowships, related to electrochemical energy storage and catalysis.
