Silvan Daniel Baier

I am an Empirical Research Fellow at Northwestern University (Kellogg School of Management), working with William J. Brady and Tessa E. S. Charlesworth.

I am interested in knowledge, specifically in how knowledge structures, an idea's attributes (e.g., quality, prestige, and origin), and labor mobility of scientists shape the diffusion of scientific advances.

Prior to Kellogg, I have worked with Charles J. Gomez at Arizona, Balázs Kovács at Yale, Joe Raffiee and Daniel Fehder at USC, as well as with Yash Raj Shrestha and Patrick Tinguely at ETH Zurich.

I received a M.A. in Computational Social Science from the University of Chicago and a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen.
