Baharul Hussain
Assistant Professor
Civil Engineering Department, Barak Valley Engineering College
I am Baharul Hussain, currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Barak Valley Engineering College, Assam. My academic and research interests lie in Structural Engineering and Structural Dynamics, with a focus on understanding and improving the performance of structures subjected to dynamic loads and vibrations.
My research contributions include a book chapter on the dynamic analysis of the historic monument Rang-ghar, reflecting my interest in the intersection of heritage conservation and modern engineering tools. I have also conducted work on the damping behavior of particle dampers, which are increasingly important in managing vibration in lightweight and flexible structures.
I have been involved in a TEQIP-III funded research project on sustainable materials, aimed at exploring eco-friendly alternatives in construction. This work aligns with my broader academic goals of promoting sustainability and resilience in civil infrastructure.
My academic journey began with a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Civil Engineering from Assam Engineering College, followed by a Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Structural Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela. These formative years sparked my passion for structural mechanics and led me to specialize in structural dynamics and vibration control.
I was drawn to this field by a deep curiosity about how structures behave under varying loads, especially dynamic ones, and the desire to contribute to safer, more efficient, and more sustainable built environments.
As part of my professional development, I continue to engage in teaching, mentoring, and research supervision, with a commitment to nurturing the next generation of civil engineers.
