PRIVACY POLICY

The Bagh Mitra application, developed by WWF India (Worldwide Fund for Nature – India), is designed to support the Forest Department in areas close to Forests and Protected Areas, such as Tiger Reserves, National Parks, and Wildlife Sanctuaries. The app supports the department in improving Human-Wildlife conflict management. 

This app is intended for use by trained volunteers (referred to as "Bagh Mitra") with pre-configured logins and is not for public use. 

Definitions  

For the privacy policy, 

You means individual using the App 

App means the Bagh Mitra Mobile Application 

Information we collect:  

The application collects and stores the following information:  

• Name, Phone number, Device ID: To identify and authenticate you 

• Device geolocation:  The device approximate & precise location gets captured when you log an incident with us 

• Images uploaded by you at the time of incident creation 

How we use this information  

• Device geolocation: This location is processed appropriately to: 

• fetch pin code and village name 

• send location to forest department officials via SMS 

• Images uploaded by you:  

• Images of animal sightings, animal marks, crops and vegetation are used to verify, assess and address incidents recorded by you on the App 

Sharing of information 

We share information with a third-party SMS provider for the purpose of sending SMS notification. These SMS, when You decide to send them during incident reporting, are sent to WWF India and Forest Department officials to provide notification about incidents. For these, we share the following information:  

• Geolocation collected as part of the incident record 

• Date and Time when the incident was reported 

• Your phone number to facilitate on-ground coordination 

Children’s privacy 

This App is not meant for usage by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information of children.  

Date Storage and Security 

The information we collect is stored securely and is accessible only to authorized personnel. We take appropriate measures to ensure the security and integrity of the collected data. 

Changes to privacy policy 

We may update the Privacy Policy when needed to reflect changes in the application and information practices. We will post updates within the App.
