Shop Highlights: Neighborhood staple bakery, superb cookies

Total Package Review: Bread Furst is a do-it-all bakery that also bakes bagels and offers a simple breakfast sandwich. Their bagels are tough, small and appear more similar to a flagel. I couldn't imagine eating one raw dog. Their cookies are out of this world as well as, I'm sure, some of their other baked goods. Open all day long until 6pm.  I did have a bialy from them in 2023 and was impressed. The flavor was amazing but the crust was still a touch on the tough side.

Shop Ambiance: Located on Connecticut Ave in the Van Ness neighborhood and some how always has a steady flow of customers getting their fix of locally baked goods. Clean and simple ambiance with all of the baked goods on display and staff rocking flour covered aprons and matching hats. 

Personal History with Shop: My parents, Anna and I enjoyed a breakfast here with my cousin, Keith, and his husband, Geoff while on our 2022 bike tour of the east coast. We had to go back for more a few days later and then went back a third time to stock up on cookies before leaving the city. 

In 2023 Anna and I returned for breakfast with Benn Schmatz, Cam Smith, Ian O'Brien and Julia, and Nick Couillard.
