Based on the date of the crash, chances are the aircraft only served with the RCAF.
On April 20, 1944, Dakota 576 departed from RCAF Patricia Bay for a simple navigation exercise. It completed the exercise and returned to the airport. It overshot the runway on its first attempt and was forced to go around. On its second attempt, it crashed. Of the 3 people on board, only one survived.
The wreckage is still there, of course. It's a very popular hike!
