This C-47 was originally delivered to the USAF in 1943 as 42-92091. However, it never really served there. Only a few months after being built, it was bought by Northwest Airlines and re-registered as N91016. It served there for three years, before being bought by Reeve Aleutian in 1946. It served there until its crash in 1965.
On May 29, 1965, N91016 was at Nikolski. As it was taking off, it was hit by a sudden gust of wind. The wind lifted the aircraft off the ground before it had truly started flying, leading to a stall and crash. All 5 people on board survived, with minimal injuries.
