Lockhed Ventura 5375 was probably delivered to the US Navy in 1943. It was eventually retired from the US Navy and sent to the Royal Canadian Air Force, where it served for the rest of it life.
On April 27, 1944, 2218 took off for a night training mission between RCAF Tofino and RCAF Patricia Bay. Its flight to Patricia Bay was uneventful. However, it disappeared on its flight back to Tofino. It was discovered 3 days later. The six crewmembers had all perished in the crash.
