This crash happened on October 9, 1949. The weather was freezing, and the ski-equipped Dakota was set to take off from Isachsen's runway. However, while the aircraft was at Isachsen, it had accumulated icing on the stabilizer, wings and the windows. The windows were cleared, but not the wings or the stabilizer. As the aircraft was taking off, it failed to gain altitude as the right wing dipped and the gear hit the ground while the pilot tried to correct that. The skis hit rough ground and the aircraft bounced and slid before coming to a halt. All 6 on board survived.
The wreckage was abandoned, as it was too far away from civilization to recover.
