I can't find the full history of the aircraft. A photo exists of N464M in Ozark Airlines paint, as well as one of whand it was operated by Wichita State University at the time.
On October 2, 1970, one of the two Wichita State University Martin 4-0-4 charters, registered N464M and nicknamed 'Gold', took off from Denver en route to Logan Airport in Utah for a game against Utah State. The aircraft had been chartered from Golden Eagle Aviation and restored to flight as it hadn't flown for years. The aircraft was scheduled to take a scenic route across some mountains, showing the team some cool locations throughout the range. Just after 1PM, N464M entered a canyon and the crew realized that it couldn't get out. It couldn't ascend over the mountains and couldn't make the turn around. The crew attempted a U-turn but knew it was futile. N464M crashed, killing 29 on the scene and two more in the hospital. The crash was pinned on the pilots' lack of a flight path.
The wreck was mostly salvaged, but the crash site remains as a memorial.
