This C-54 only served with the USAF, in the 1700th Air Transport Group.
The final flight of this C-54 was on November 17, 1955. The aircraft was on a routine assignment, carrying Lockheed employees from the Skunk Works in Burbank to Area 51. The pilots chose an alternate route to save 10 minutes of flight time, but the plane was blown further than expected by a storm. A miscalculation of the aircraft's location led to the aircraft crashing into Charleston Peak. All 14 people on board perished.
Most of the wreckage was cleaned up. It wouldn't be visible if not for some random fellow who got all of the wreckage in a pile for some reason.
