I didn't find this, but I forgot where I got this from.
Aircraft Type: Lockheed C-121J Super Constellation
Registration: 131644
Airline: United States Navy
Location: South of McMurdo Station
Only visible through satellite imagery.
This C-54 only served with the USN, being delivered in late 1953.
This Constellation departed Christchurch for McMurdo on October 8, 1970. As it was arriving, conditions deteriorated badly. Visibility was basically zero. The aircraft failed to land and went around. On the second attempt, the aircraft was very far off from the runway but the pilots didn't notice. The aircraft landed in the snow and the right gear separated. The aircraft's wing also broke off during the landing. All 80 souls on board survived.
The wreckage was not salvaged as it is in a very remote location. The (now-closed) field that it crashed at was named after the aircraft, becoming Pegasus Field.
