The protection of your personal data is important to us. This privacy policy explains what data is collected, stored and how it is used by the B-Scanner app. We comply with applicable data protection laws, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation
Responsible for data processing in connection with the B-Scanner app is:

Camera (android.permission.CAMERA)
The camera is used to scan QR codes. The camera is only activated during the scanning process.
No camera images are saved. Processing takes place exclusively locally on the device.
Kamerablitz (android.permission.FLASHLIGHT)
Allows you to use the camera flash to better capture QR codes in low light conditions.
No data is collected or stored.
Internet (android.permission.INTERNET)
This permission is needed to check the security of websites when a QR code returns a URL as a result. The app analyzes the website and warns the user of potential threats such as malware or phishing.
No personal data related to internet use is stored.
Standortberechtigungen (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION)
These permissions are only needed to add networks, as required on certain Android versions. There is no collection or storage of location data.
Location data is neither stored nor passed on to third parties.
WiFi permissions (ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_STATE)
These permissions are required to process QR codes that contain WiFi credentials. The app uses this information to connect the device directly to the corresponding WiFi network.
The WLAN data is only processed while the connection is running and is not saved.
Kalenderzugriff (WRITE_CALENDAR, READ_CALENDAR)
These permissions are required to insert QR codes containing calendar invitations or appointments directly into the user's calendar. The user can decide whether such an appointment is added.
The app does not save calendar data. Access is only granted upon user request and for the specific action of adding an appointment.
The B-Scanner app saves the following data:
Scan History: Includes the scanned result and the current time of the scan.
History is stored locally on the device using SharedPreferences and remains until the user manually deletes the history.
The scan history is saved so that the user can track which QR codes they have scanned and to access the QR code's information again if necessary, even if the physical QR code is no longer available.
Usage data, such as user behavior within the app, is collected, for example, which features are used. Device information like device type, operating system, and language settings, as well as anonymized IP addresses, are also collected. The purpose of this data collection is to analyze app usage to improve functionality and user experience. No personal data is collected.
Error reports such as app version, operating system version, and device information are collected, as well as log files related to crashes, to identify and fix technical problems. The purpose of this data collection is to analyze and resolve errors to improve app stability. Crashlytics does not collect personal data as defined by GDPR.
Our app accesses the Open Food Facts API to provide information about scanned products. This data originates from a public and non-profit database and includes details such as product names, brands, nutritional information, and labels. The app uses the camera to scan QR codes, but no images or videos are stored or transmitted. If QR codes contain calendar events, the app only processes this data to add events to the user's calendar. Calendar data is not stored or shared.
All data collected by Firebase is stored in Googles data centers. Google is committed to processing the data in accordance with the provisions of the Google Privacy Policy. Firebase ensures that the data is processed in compliance with GDPR requirements.
