A doorjamb, door jamb (also sometimes doorpost) is the vertical portion of the door frame onto which a door is secured.[2] The jamb bears the weight of the door through its hinges, and most types of door latches and deadbolts extend into a recess in the doorjamb when engaged, making the accuracy of the plumb (i.e. true vertical) and strength of the doorjambs vitally important to the overall operational durability and security of the door.

That's a straightforward "innie" window and in your situation it will need some type of exterior extension jamb. Though there are some exterior extension jamb products available, most builders make their own and there are many ways to do that. Here are a few articles I would suggest to help you wrap you head around all of this:

I'm not sure what is meant by the "Automatic Door Switch" symbol in CA's Library. Does Automatic Door Switch = Jamb Switch? I am trying to figure out how to place a jamb switch, such as would be placed on the hinge side of a door to a storage closet or pantry and turns on the light inside when the door is opened.

Thank you for the reply. Hmmm....I'm not finding that particular door light switch in my Library no matter what combination of wording I use. That's definitely the type of jamb switch I'm wanting-with the centered actuator. Did you download a manufacturer or bonus catalog that had it?

200 Series Perma-Shield Narroline window side jamb liners are handed based on the location of the liner viewed from the exterior.

The left-hand side is a one-piece liner, the right side has a right upper and a right lower jamb liner.

I'm a somewhat newbie user, and am drafting up a door from LL Eric Wing's Architectural Families course. It calls for starting with modifying the door opening and then inserting a jamb sweep. I thought I followed the steps- entered reference planes for jamb width, shim, stop, etc and locked the profile to those reference lines. The profile sweeps beautifully. If I try to change the size of the door opening, the jamb doesn't move with it. Either have to break constraints or get error messages. Does anyone know why the reference planes aren't moving with the changed opening size?

Ah- thank you so much for this. So it wasn't the profile- I tried plain rectangle and it also didn't work. The video (about 3 videos- a lot to screen shot) calls for reference lines with labeled, parametric dimensions for jamb shim, jamb width, stop width, etc. I erased those and redid them- still didn't flex. Then locked them- that seems to have made the difference. Now I'll check to see if the video either asked for that and I missed it, or simply did it and I missed it. Anyway- it works, thanks to your guidance. Thanks very much-

Larco's jamb push plate switches are made to fit on a door jamb or between doors in vestibule applications. Choose from radio controlled and hardwired switches. Accessories and different size mounting boxes are also available.

Cellular fusion is required in the development of several tissues, including skeletal muscle. In vertebrates, this process is poorly understood and lacks an in vivo-validated cell surface heterophilic receptor pair that is necessary for fusion. Identification of essential cell surface interactions between fusing cells is an important step in elucidating the molecular mechanism of cellular fusion. We show here that the zebrafish orthologues of JAM-B and JAM-C receptors are essential for fusion of myocyte precursors to form syncytial muscle fibres. Both jamb and jamc are dynamically co-expressed in developing muscles and encode receptors that physically interact. Heritable mutations in either gene prevent myocyte fusion in vivo, resulting in an overabundance of mononuclear, but otherwise overtly normal, functional fast-twitch muscle fibres. Transplantation experiments show that the Jamb and Jamc receptors must interact between neighbouring cells (in trans) for fusion to occur. We also show that jamc is ectopically expressed in prdm1a mutant slow muscle precursors, which inappropriately fuse with other myocytes, suggesting that control of myocyte fusion through regulation of jamc expression has important implications for the growth and patterning of muscles. Our discovery of a receptor-ligand pair critical for fusion in vivo has important implications for understanding the molecular mechanisms responsible for myocyte fusion and its regulation in vertebrate myogenesis.

All brand new walk-in coolers and freezers come complete with metal jamb guards to help add an additional layer of protection to the door opening. However, daily wear and tear will eventually cause your jamb guards to become worn, dented and less effective.

KPS Global has replacement jamb guard options to fit any size or style of opening you have on your walk-in. Simply let us know what type of jamb guard your walk-in currently uses, and we will quickly send you a high-quality replacement. The metal on all of our jamb guards is constructed of 18-gauge galvanized steel that provides a finished look for both the legs and the header of your door opening.

When ordering replacement jamb guards, the existing wall thickness and door opening measurements of your walk in are important pieces of information KPS Global will ask you to provide. Watch this video to learn exactly how to take these measurements.

Our Centered Thermal Break Jamb Guards are sold as a full kit that comes complete with wood, metal and thermal break pieces for your jamb guard. Once installed, these jamb guards have a nice, clean look with no visible screws and a centered thermal break.

Our Offset Thermal Break Jamb Guards are also comprised of metal and thermal break pieces but do not have the additional wood component to the jamb guard. These jamb guards are easy to install and feature an offset thermal break that is positioned closest to the exterior side of the door.

One-Piece Jamb Guards are typically used for double-action or sliding doors. These simple jamb guards come in one solid metal piece and are custom sized to fit the legs and header of your door opening perfectly.

Vertical side of an aperture, such as a window or doorway, essentially that part on which a superincumbent load is sustained. That part of the jamb between the outer wall and the door-or window-frame is the reveal.

Design The 3 areas of bone in the deep lateral orbit were designated the lacrimal keyhole, the sphenoid door jamb, and the basin of the inferior orbital fissure. By means of digitized computed tomographic scans, these 3 areas of bone were analyzed by measuring preoperative and postoperative orbital volumes and predicted bony expansion volumes in 9 patients (17 orbits) who underwent deep lateral orbital decompression surgery. We also calculated the volume of bone that could be removed from 11 normal orbits. A 3-dimensional computer reconstruction of an orbital computed tomographic scan was created, and the 3 areas of potential bone were delineated within it.

Results The average volumes of the basin of the inferior orbital fissure, the sphenoid door jamb, the lacrimal keyhole, and the total of the 3 regions were 1.2, 2.9, 1.5, and 5.6 cm3, respectively. The 3 areas of bone contributed variably to the total, with the door jamb contributing the most volume of the 3, nearly twice the value of the other 2. There was, however, a significant amount of interpatient variability, especially for the door jamb region.

side-piece of an opening of a door, window, etc., early 14c., from Old French jambe "pier, side post of a door," originally "a leg, shank" (12c.), from Late Latin gamba "leg, (horse's) hock," which is from Greek kamp "a bending," (on notion of the bending of the joint), from verbal stem *kamp- (source also of also Lithuanian kampas "corner," kumpti "to bend," kumpas "curved," and also Germanic words for "lame, mutilated" such as Gothic hamfs "mutilated, lame," Old High German hamf). Beekes considers this a Pre-Greek or other substrate word. The Greek word also was borrowed in Albanian as kmb "leg, foot."

"college grounds," 1774, from Latin campus "flat land, field," from Proto-Italic *kampo- "field," a word of uncertain origin. De Vaan finds cognates in Greek kamp "a bending, bow, curvature," etc., if the original sense of campus was "depression, curve" (see jamb), and concludes the source in PIE *kamp- "could well be a European substratum word from agricultural terminology." First used in college sense at Princeton.

"frolic, merrymaking," 1590s, earlier gambolde "a skipping, a leap or spring" (1510s), from French gambade (15c.), from Late Latin gamba "horse's hock or leg," from Greek kamp "a bending;" see jamb. The form was altered perhaps by confusion with the formerly common ending -aud, -ald (as in ribald).

I bought that one for the top and bottom sill flashing, but it wasn't really usable for the jamb since I needed something with an adhesive to stick to the sliding door frame and then the sarking, creating the barrier. 2351a5e196
