PUNARAVARTAKA JVARA (Relapsing fever)
If an individual who suffered from fever recently, resorts to prohibited factors likeconsuming vidahi items, guru, asatmya, (i.e. unwhole some) and virudda i.e. mutually contradictory things, etc. before gaining strength then the jvara reappears.
If a person becomes free from fever when the dosas have not been eliminated properly, in such cases even a mild 'apachara’ (irregularity) leads to re-emergence of fever. Such patients have already suffered for a long time. There is weakness and loss of vitality, if fever reappears in them, it certainly causes a lot of complications.
TRETMENT
In some clinical instances, dosas undergo paripaka (metabolic transformation) in the dhatus (tissue elements) gradually and fever subsides.
But their harmful effects continues as a result of which the patient suffers from "dinata" (uneasiness), Svayathu (odema), glani, panduta (anemia), loss of appetite, itching, urticaria etc. As such even after the fever subsides, the dosas should be
eliminated through suitable procedures, like 'Yépana basti', yusa (vegetable soups) and rasa (meat soups) of the meat of Jangala type of animals, are useful.
Other measures listed under jvara also should be undertaken, keeping in view the individual clinical condition.
- Ideal medicine for relapsing fever is "Kirétatiktadi kvatha" in the dose of 30 ml thrice a day with Lukewarm water for a month.
- Pippalyadi ghrth, baladi ghrth along with Godanti misran vati is also effective.
- Putapakva vishama jvarantaka loha125 mg
Praval pisti 1000 mg
Guduchi satva 1000 mg
all combined, should be given twice a day with honey and followed by Kiritatiktadi 0r Kirata kvatha.
- Sudarshana ghana vati 250 mg, thrice a day is very effective.
