My Journey Through Wood-Carving

"How did you start?"
I was introduced to wood-carving in the summer of 2019 at a Boy Scout summer camp. I took the Wood-Carving Merit Badge class, which taught me a couple different types of simple wood cuts. I didn't learn much from the class, but still, it was important because it introduced me to this incredible art form. 💙
I first carved a very basic butter knife.
Then a simple rocket model.
Then a small cottage on top of a mountain.
Then the Empire State Building.
Then a sculpture of my head.
I got halfway done with another sculpture of my head.
My creations have been increasing with complexity. Every new creation I make, I find more ways to use my fine-carving tools and create new 3D patterns.
Dream Goal: to carve an entire ship harbor. I want an entire room filled with wood-carved luxury yachts, cruise ships and military ships, as well as organized architectural buildings and some Godzillas.

I screwed around with my wood-carved head model after it was finished because I wanted to make the cheeks less chubby, but it ended up turning out like this:
