Exhibition, Blunted on Reality
Many times I forget that English is not mine. It does not belong to me, and I don’t want it to, but I’ve grown so accustom to it. The way it wraps around my teeth and tongue, the way it fills my stomach, heart and mind. I need it to survive. It hurts trying to remember who I am, finding my self suffocating and choking on bits of broken Oromiffa.
Blunted on reality - in limbo between places I call home and who I want to be.
Inspired by Soreti Kadir and another poet whose name and poem and I cannot remember.
Photography, Sampa The Great
Sampa The Great is a Melbourne based rapper who shines talent and skill. Her word smith ways convey strong empowering messages for young Black women across the world. A much needed voice that breaks the mould of male centric white noise coming through airwaves in Australia's hip-hop scene. This collaborative project between AYSPIRE and Sampa The Great is to convey the power in Black women that comes from within the self.
This is, Sampa The Great.
Album Design, Visible 11
Visible 11 is the 11th edition of a yearly music program supported by Multicultural Arts Victoria that pairs emerging artists of minority backgrounds with artist established in the music industry. The pairs work on a track and puts together a collaborative album. This edition includes local talented artists such as Neil Morris, Kaiit, Semina, and more. Each artist bringing in their own taste and style. The music is original, meaningful and represents a global identity.
The use of collage represents the many layers of global communities identities coming together creating a piece of work. Each instrument is linked to another cultural association which is apparent in the music that is being presented. There are both synthetic and natural sounds present hence the choice of plants and an MPC. Each element should come together representing the unity of the Album.

Fire Sign Tour
Iconic rappers Sampa The Great and hip-hop duo Remi (Remi and Sensible J) reunite for a joint national tour of Australia for release of Sensible J's latest cut 'Fire Sign'. All-African members unapologetically embrace there roots on the tour, painting the town Black. Tour promo design was inspired by the concept of Afrofuturism and vintage Nigerian Vinyl covers. Afro futurism with its roots in funk, represent an alternate reality that is vital when it comes to the celebration of blackness; which the tour evokes hence the glowing eyes. The colour was essential to the statement being made by the artists and all marks created needs to instantly identified African design or patterning prevalent in historic art, fashion, and ceramics across Sub-saharan Africa.
