Following an emergency ICC board meeting and an ultimatum issued to the BCB, Bangladesh will not be taking part in the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2026. This is very bad news for over 180 million people and the ICC has been accused of double standards. The only team to openly support Bangladesh when they announced that they would not play in India was Pakistan. The PCB's participation in the match against India is also unconfirmed. The whole saga started when Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Following this, Bangladesh banned the broadcast of the IPL nationwide and relations between Bangladesh and India soured and Bangladesh wr ote to the ICC about moving all their matches to Sri Lanka. The ICC did not agree to this. Scotland will be replacing Bangladesh in Group C of the group stage matches and they have acknowledged Bangladesh's forfeit in a statement. Overall this is a huge disappointment for many people around the world.
