AXIOM-a statement or idea which people accept as being true. Going by that notion, the Mathematics Club of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela has been proudly chistened as AXIOM. Founded in 2009 and inaugurated by Prof. Swadheen Patnaik,of Indian Mathematical Association, the club has evolved to celebrate mathematics in a way never trailed before. Being a Mathematics club itself is an out-of-the-box cogitation and people often get scared and flummoxed at its existence. On the contrary, AXIOM tries to explore the fun part of maths and solve riddles pertaining to real life scenarios. All the things around us are in some way or the other connected to mathematics and AXIOM tries to seek this symbiotic connection. In accordance with that, a lot of events, workshops and lectures are also endorsed for both the institute and school-going students at various levels. All in all, AXIOM is the perfect blend of growing through learning with an assortment of mathematics involved!

The mission of Axiom is to promote enthusiasm and interest in Mathematics in and outside the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NITR). This is accomplished by exposing students to hitherto unexplored, exciting and challenging branches of Mathematics in a casual, friendly, and fun atmosphere.

The club will serve engaging students and faculties in the following activities for the cultivation of their common mathematical interests. These activities will

• Make students aware of the applications of Mathematics in different fields.
• Promote the interaction between students, faculties, eminent mathematicians & industrial professionals of our country through guest lectures, seminars and workshops.

We will be organizing different events like Puzzle Competitions, Mathematical Quiz, Seminar Talk and similar events. We will also be organizing all the events related to Mathematics Department in the Technical Fest.
