Yet another in a series of murders and assaults by the Axeman created sweeping fear in the city. Police were inundated with reports from citizens claiming to have seen an axeman lurking neighborhoods, axes chisels found in backyards, and doors and windows that appeared to have been tampered with. People began to carry loaded shotguns and family members took turns watching over their families at night. One report alleged that the Axeman was masquerading as a woman, another that he had been seen leaping over a back fence.

Mature axeman's folly is a player-made ale, created by brewing via the Cooking skill. When drunk, this item temporarily boosts the player's Woodcutting level by 2. It is the stronger, or "mature" version of the standard axeman's folly, which only boosts 1 level to Woodcutting. Axeman's folly is most often used in quests with Woodcutting requirements that players do not already meet. Note that this boost is a visible boost, and thus does not stack with the +3 boost from the dragon axe special attack. It does stack with the invisible boost in the Woodcutting guild.

The Relic axeman is a strong relic melee attack unit that is unlocked when Barracks are upgraded to level 7. They are very expensive compared to regular coin units until the June 2020 update. Their strength is better than most coin unit troops, but weaker than the Demon Horror. They are the first of the four relic troops that can be unlocked.
