AWM - Abstract Math Summer Program

July 11-15, 2022 at Rice University

This short summer course in theoretical mathematics will introduce students to abstract algebra and number theory. Each day there will be a lecture introducing students to a new mathematical concept. Students will participate in activities and group discussions to reinforce the concepts covered in the lecture. Lecture material will be based on A Friendly Introduction to Number Theory by Joseph H. Silverman. We will also do some fun contest math activities such as practice problems for the AWM and AIME exams.

The program is for female and non-binary high schoolers going into 10th to 12th grade, who are interested in math and motivated to learn more.

Sessions will run on July 11th - 15th, 2022 from 12:30-3:30 pm.

Note the this is a free program with limited acceptance, so applications will be competitive.

  • Applications are Due: May 22, 2022 at 11:59 PM

  • Acceptance emails will be sent out by June 3rd, 2022
