Fall 2018 Update

Hello AMS Families!

The 2018-2019 Executive Board would like to update you on our focus to date, with a quarterly update and budget report. We will continue to do this for winter and spring quarters, and hope you find these updates valuable.

This fall, we had 30% participation with our One & Done fundraising campaign, and raised over $10,000!! This year’s One & Done donations will help the PTO board focus on current school needs and support, while keeping a balanced budget for the future. Your support of the PTO's annual One & Done fundraiser insures that the PTO can continue to add significant support and value to AMS - Thank you! And congratulations to the winners of the One & Done incentive raffle: Caren Pauling, Gina Aube, Sandy Solof, Debbie Trautman and Linda Bloom!! While our incentive One & Done fundraising campaign is over, it’s never too late to donate. Online donations can be made through Paypal.

To date, your support through One & Done made the following possible at AMS:

  • Teacher back to school stipends
  • 8th grade team drawstring bags for the Boston field trip
  • Student council concession support for the Halloween dance
  • Teacher Appreciation conference luncheon

We have supported AMS through the following volunteer opportunities:

  • Student Council Dance volunteers
  • Student Council Food Drive
  • School Book Fair

Our annual bookfair during conference week was a huge success, bringing in $2,000 in sales. Our profits are accepted in Scholastic dollars ($800), and go directly to support our AMS library needs. Your support of our bookfair is greatly appreciated! Our “All for Books” donations will be used to help others in our school community.

We hope you were able to attend our PTO quarterly forum at the AHS in October, held in coordination with Avon Youth Services that outlined and discussed internet safety. If you have any suggestions for future forum topics, please reach out to Robyn Kessler at: rkessler99@gmail.com.

What the PTO is working on in the next quarter:

  • Teacher ‘wish list’ items – classroom and school upgrades/enhancements
  • Purchase of Elkay water fountain/bottle filler coolers
  • Winter parent forum – January (dates TBD)

We are still looking for volunteers! Where can you help and get involved? Please consider volunteering for the following upcoming events at AMS. Contact Lisa Indelicato at: lmindelicato2@gmail.com.

  • 7th grade spring event/social chair
  • 8th grade social chair/committee chairs – spring/end of year
  • Teacher appreciation/spring

If you have any questions about how to get more involved at AMS or how the PTO supports our school, please don’t hesitate to contact one of us.

We wish you a happy holiday season!

Your AMS PTO Board Team: Rosemary Neamtz, Barbara Ausiello, Elizabeth Abshire, Erin Lamadrid, Erin Sloat, Robyn Kessler, Laura Ward, Lisa Indelicato, and Carol Shubinski
