AVIJIT DUTTA

Welcome! I am currently an Assistant Professor at Institute for Advancing Intelligence, TCG-CREST. Prior to this, I was a Postdoctoral researcher at Institute for Advancing Intelligence, TCG-CREST and a Visiting Scientist at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. I work on cryptography and security at large with a particular interest in the symmetric key cryptography, symmetric searchable encryption schemes and lattice based cryptography.

I completed my PhD from the Applied Statistics Unit of Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, where I was fortunate to be advised by Prof. Mridul Nandi. I work in the area of symmetric key cryptography with a special focus on provable security since 2014. My present research interests primarily include the design and analysis of symmetric cryptographic schemes. I also work in designing symmetric searchable encryption schemes. I am also interested in cryptanalysis of symmetric key ciphers, blockchains and lattice-based cryptography.

I have completed my graduation and post-graduation in Computer Science and Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology and Jadavpur University in 2011 and 2014 respectively. I have also spent a year (2011-2012) in Cognizant Technology Solutions India Pvt Ltd as a software engineer. During the doctoral tenure, I spent two and a half months in Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) Lab, Japan. I spent four months (Aug, 2019-Dec, 2019) in Dhirubhai Ambani Institute for Information and Communication Technology (DAIICT), Gandhinagar as an assistant professor. I was also a visiting scientist in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur from April, 2020 – August, 2020.
