If you want a dedicated, high-fidelity transmitter that turns your existing premium headphones into a wireless pair for airplane entertainment systems, choose Avantree Voyager Airplane; if you need an all-in-one translation device with active noise cancellation and a built-in touchscreen to bridge language barriers while traveling, choose QYGCKJ NE20.
• Avantree Voyager Airplane: Its biggest strength is the clear OLED display that lets you verify connections and battery status instantly without guessing, but it trades off by requiring you to already own Bluetooth headphones since it only transmits audio.
• QYGCKJ NE20: Its biggest strength is the integrated 135-language AI translator and 48dB active noise cancellation that blocks out jet engine roar, yet it trades off by being an in-ear solution rather than a universal adapter for over-ear gear.
• Who each pick is for: The Voyager is for travelers who refuse to compromise on the sound quality of their current Sony or Bose headphones, while the NE20 is for business travelers and tourists who need real-time communication tools more than just music playback.
The Avantree Voyager Airplane is designed for a very specific problem: the frustration of using old, bulky wired headphones on planes where the entertainment system has moved away from USB-C or digital-only outputs. If you are someone who already owns a pair of high-end Bluetooth headphones—like AirPods Pro, Bose QuietComfort, or Sony WH-1000XM series—you do not want to buy a new pair just to fly. This device bridges that gap. It connects via a standard 3.5mm AUX input found on almost every legacy aircraft seatback system and broadcasts that signal wirelessly to your personal headphones.
What sets this apart from generic adapters is the inclusion of the Qualcomm chipset supporting aptX Adaptive and Auracast technology. For audiophiles, this means the latency is minimized and the audio fidelity remains high, which is critical when trying to enjoy a movie during a long-haul flight. The OLED display is a small but massive feature in practice. Instead of fumbling blindly to see if your headphones have connected, you can glance down and see exactly what is happening: the battery level, the connection status, and the audio format. It removes the anxiety of silence before takeoff or mid-flight confusion.
However, this product is not for everyone. You must already possess Bluetooth headphones to use it effectively; it does not come with earbuds or speakers attached. Furthermore, it is strictly a transmitter. It cannot receive audio from a phone or tablet to play through the plane's system, nor does it support hearing aids directly (unless you get the specific HA version). If you plan to listen to two people simultaneously, classic Bluetooth mode only supports one headset, though the Auracast mode allows for group sharing if both devices support that newer standard. It is a pure tool for upgrading your existing audio setup for flights and travel, nothing more.

The QYGCKJ NE20 enters the conversation as a completely different category of travel companion. These are not just earbuds; they are a portable communication hub. If your primary pain point during international travel isn't the lack of a headphone jack, but rather the inability to understand the crew, order food in a foreign language, or navigate a busy airport terminal, these earbuds solve that problem. They feature a robust 135-language AI translator that works in real-time, making them ideal for business negotiations or casual exploration in countries where you speak no local dialect.
The hardware specifications suggest a focus on immersion and comfort. With 48dB of active noise cancellation, these earbuds claim to block up to 98% of background noise. On a red-eye flight, where the hum of the engines can be deafening, this feature is invaluable. The 13mm dynamic drivers provide a Hi-Fi stereo experience with balanced mids and crisp highs, ensuring that when you aren't translating, you are still getting a high-quality music experience. The charging case itself is a standout feature, housing an LCD smart touch screen. This allows you to control 15 functions directly from the case—including selecting languages, adjusting the equalizer, and managing voice assistants—without ever needing to pull out your smartphone.
That said, the NE20 is a significant departure from traditional "open" listening experiences. These are in-ear buds, which some users find less comfortable for extended wear compared to over-ear headphones. While the ergonomic design aims for all-day comfort, the physical presence inside the ear canal is constant. Additionally, while the battery life offers up to 8 hours of continuous use, the reliance on the AI translation features might drain power faster than simple music playback. This product is for the traveler who views their audio gear as a utility for survival and communication first, and entertainment second.
• Best for existing headphone owners → Avantree Voyager Airplane: If you already have expensive headphones and just need a way to make them work on planes, the Voyager is the perfect adapter.
• Best for language barriers → QYGCKJ NE20: If you need to speak a foreign language or translate conversations instantly, the NE20's 135-language AI support is the only logical choice.
• Best for audio fidelity lovers → Avantree Voyager Airplane: With aptX Adaptive support, this transmitter preserves the high-resolution audio from your source, whereas the NE20 focuses on translation processing.
• Best for noise isolation → QYGCKJ NE20: The 48dB active noise cancellation provides a superior barrier against jet noise compared to any passive isolation or open-back designs the Voyager relies on.
• Best for convenience of controls → QYGCKJ NE20: The LCD touch screen on the case lets you manage settings without a phone, offering a self-contained experience.
• Best for transparency and status → Avantree Voyager Airplane: The OLED display gives you immediate visual feedback on battery and connection, eliminating guesswork.
• Best for group listening → Avantree Voyager Airplane: The Auracast capability allows for audio sharing between multiple compatible devices, a feature the single-unit NE20 does not natively replicate for groups.
• Best for all-day travel battery → QYGCKJ NE20: With 40 hours of total usage provided by the charging case, it is ready for multi-day trips without needing a recharge.
I would buy the Avantree Voyager Airplane if my primary goal was to enhance the flight experience with my current high-quality headphones. In my opinion, the ability to keep using my favorite pair of over-ears with zero loss in sound quality is worth the extra step of carrying a small transmitter. The OLED display alone saves so much time and frustration during boarding. However, I would recommend the QYGCKJ NE20 for anyone who considers language translation a non-negotiable part of their travel routine. If you are going to a country where you don't speak the language, the value of having a 135-language translator built right into your ears outweighs the benefits of a simple audio adapter. For flights specifically, if you prioritize pure, high-fidelity audio enjoyment, the Voyager is the winner; if you prioritize communication and noise blocking, the NE20 takes the lead.
You would need the specific Avantree Voyager HA model for hearing aid compatibility.
While the earbuds connect via Bluetooth, the description highlights that the LCD touchscreen on the charging case allows you to control functions like language selection and voice assistants without a smartphone, making it a standalone translation machine.
The QYGCKJ NE20 offers up to 8 hours of continuous use per charge with a total of 40 hours from the case, whereas the Avantree Voyager Airplane relies on a smaller internal lithium battery (1 watt-hour) that requires recharging, making the NE20 more suitable for extended unplugged travel.
The Avantree Voyager Airplane uses aptX Adaptive and aptX-HD codecs to ensure high-quality audio transmission to your existing headphones, focusing on fidelity. The QYGCKJ NE20 features 13mm dynamic drivers and 48dB active noise cancellation, prioritizing immersive sound and noise isolation over raw codec transmission.
