If you want a dedicated, long-haul travel adapter to share in-flight entertainment with two people on standard airline screens, choose Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr; if you need comfortable, washable sleep headphones that stretch to fit any head size for rest or light exercise, choose Perytong 2.
• Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr: Delivers 25 hours of battery life and dual-device connectivity for sharing movies, but requires a 3.5mm analog audio source and cannot make phone calls.
• Perytong 2: Offers ultra-thin, washable fabric construction that fits large heads comfortably while sleeping or running, yet provides only 12 hours of playtime and lacks the specialized airline jack support.
• The Pick: Choose the Avantree for serious travelers needing to watch movies on planes; choose the Perytong for anyone seeking all-day comfort who struggles with bulky ear cups or needs a solution for big heads.
This device is built for one specific, high-value scenario: turning an old-school airplane seat screen into a personal wireless theater. If you are tired of the flimsy plastic headphones provided by airlines, or if you simply prefer your own premium over-ear headphones for big head sizes, this little metal box bridges that gap. It plugs directly into the 3.5mm AUX output found on most legacy in-flight entertainment systems. The inclusion of a dual-prong airline adapter means it covers the two most common jack formats you will encounter on flights, removing the guesswork from packing.
The standout feature here is the ability to pair two Bluetooth headphones simultaneously. Traveling with a spouse, friend, or child? You can plug one headphone into the adapter and connect both pairs wirelessly. This lets you enjoy the same movie without arguing about volume levels or swapping devices. The unit relies on a premium Qualcomm chipset, which supports aptX Adaptive and aptX HD codecs when your headphones are compatible. This ensures that if you have high-quality wireless gear, you aren't losing fidelity just because you are connecting to an older analog system.
Battery life is where this unit truly shines for long-distance travel. With up to 25 hours of continuous playback, it can easily survive even the longest red-eye flights across continents. A crucial detail for frequent flyers is the USB-C pass-through charging. This allows you to keep the device plugged into the plane's power port while listening, meaning you never have to worry about the battery dying mid-movie. However, this is not a receiver for your phone; it sends audio from a wired source to your wireless headphones. It is strictly for media consumption, not for taking calls or playing music directly from a smartphone unless that phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

In contrast, the Perytong 2 is designed for the person who finds traditional headphones uncomfortable, especially those with larger head dimensions. The "big head" struggle is real; standard ear cups often clamp too tight or leave no room for glasses. This product solves that by replacing hard plastic cups with ultra-thin, HD stereo speakers embedded in a flexible fabric headband. Because the material is a blend of 80% nylon and 20% spandex, it offers incredible stretchability. This makes it an ideal candidate for anyone searching for the best over-ear headphones for big head users who need a secure fit without pressure points.
Comfort is paramount here, particularly for sleeping or low-intensity movement. The fabric is sweat-absorbent and breathable, making it suitable for yoga, running, or just resting your head down during a nap. Unlike foam ear cushions that can trap heat, this design keeps airflow moving. A unique selling point is its washability. Since hygiene matters, especially after sweating or wearing it during sleep, you can throw the entire headband in the washing machine (after removing the control pod). This level of durability and ease of maintenance is rare in the world of wireless audio.
While it is marketed heavily for sleep, it functions well as a general-purpose headband for sports or meditation. It uses Bluetooth 5.4 for a stable connection to phones, tablets, or laptops. The sound quality comes from dynamic drivers within the thin band, providing true HD stereo sound without the bulk of traditional cans. However, the trade-off is in the battery longevity compared to dedicated travel adapters. You get up to 12 hours of playtime on a single charge, which takes about 2 hours to refill. While sufficient for a day of use or a short flight, it does not match the marathon endurance of the Avantree for multi-leg international trips.

Weighing only 4 grams, it is virtually weightless and fits in any pocket, compared to the slightly heavier fabric assembly of the Perytong.
I would buy the Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr if my primary goal was enhancing air travel and I needed to share content with a companion. Its 25-hour battery and dual-pairing features solve specific pain points that generic headphones cannot address. However, if I am looking for the best over-ear headphones for big head issues specifically, or need something I can wash and wear while sleeping, the Perytong 2 is the clear winner. For a traveler with a larger head who wants to avoid the pressure of standard ear cups during a long flight, the Perytong offers a comfort-first alternative, though I would miss the extended battery life of the Avantree. Ultimately, for the specific use case of watching movies on planes, the Avantree is the more powerful tool, but for daily comfort and fit, the Perytong wins.
