School of Mechanical Engineering (SMEC) / Nuclear Professional School (NPS)
Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai, INDIA / The University of Tokyo, JAPAN
Hi, I'm Dr. Avadhesh K. Sharma, currently working as an Associate Professor and Lab in-charge for Electric Vehicle (EV) Laboratory, School of Mechanical Engineering (SMEC) at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Chennai. Previously, I served as a Project Researcher at the University of Tokyo, Japan. I have been involved in various projects related to the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, which was affected by a major earthquake followed by a tsunami in 2011.
I specialize in conjugate heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and nuclear safety. My expertise encompasses both practical experimentation and advanced computational analysis, with a focus on effective problem-solving. Throughout my career, I have published over 60 international papers, demonstrating my commitment for providing technical guidance and consultancy.
PhD Opportunities in my research group (Applied Thermo-Fluids Group, VIT Chennai) I welcome researchers interested in tackling challenges in new cutting-edge areas like 'EV Thermal Management (Battery/Motor), Solar-Thermal, Conjugate Heat Transfer, Multiphase Flow, CFD (Turbulence Modeling, Reaction Kinematics, VOF-Lagrangian Modeling), Nanofluids, Spray/Jet Cooling, Environment Pollutants Scavenging, and Rare Materials Extractions'. The group is also open to new research ideas, so if you’re enthusiastic about proposing novel topics, let’s discuss at avadheshkumar.sharma@vit.ac.in
Why Choose my research group? While I can’t guarantee a direct path to a job after graduation, I do promise a supportive, stress-free PhD experience where you can have academic freedom, control on publication goals, and work-life balance.
