AutoText Pro ("the Extension") is a browser extension for Google Chrome developed to help users save and expand text snippets inside web-based text editors.

Data We Collect

AutoText Pro does not collect any personal data. The Extension does not transmit any information to any external server, database, or third-party service.

All data created by users — including saved text snippets, shortcuts, titles, and settings — is stored exclusively on the user's local device using the Chrome browser's built-in chrome.storage API. This data never leaves the user's device and is not accessible to the developer or any third party.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

- Names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information

- Browsing history or page content

- Keystrokes or clipboard contents

- Usage statistics or analytics

- Crash reports or diagnostic data

- Any data from text fields or editors on the websites you visit

Microphone Access

AutoText Pro requests access to the microphone solely to enable the optional voice dictation feature. Microphone access is only activated when the user explicitly clicks the dictation button. Audio captured by this feature is processed locally by the browser's Web Speech API and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere.

Permissions Explanation

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions strictly for its core functionality:

- storage: To save your snippets locally on your device.

- activeTab: To inject the sidebar into the active browser tab when you open the extension.

- scripting: To ensure the extension is available on tabs that were open before the extension was installed.

- host_permissions (<all_urls>): To allow the extension to work on any website where you open a text editor. The extension does not read or process page content — it only interacts with text fields you explicitly use.

Third-Party Services

AutoText Pro does not integrate with, connect to, or share data with any third-party service, analytics platform, advertising network, or cloud provider.

Children's Privacy

AutoText Pro is a general-purpose productivity tool. It does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 and does not target children in any way.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
