A Legacy Unfulfilled
Maverick vs. Sally
Round 1| Maverick Leon | mavleon
Prelude
“.. still no data where this rift came from. Although this leads me towards a bustling city filled with bikers.”
As Mav travels through the rift, he can see dozens of pages flying around and about. Surely this rift came from an author of sorts.
But he doesn’t know it yet.
All he knows is that he’ll be arriving at his destination soon.
Chapter 1: The Skullblazer’s Legacy
New York, 09:25 AM
Two bikers on one of the alleyways are arguing about recruiting members.
“If we can’t find another recruit, this gang is going to disband!” The slim biker says. “Let alone having a second bike to begin with!”
“Relax,” the burly man says calmly, “we just need one more member. If we just find the last one, our crew will be back in no time.”
As soon as he said those words, a rift suddenly popped up on that alleyway, and out stumbled a red cat wearing a black jacket, goggles, white shirt, and what seems to be military-grade black and white boots.
“Ugh…”
Without hesitation, the two bikers grabbed their guns, the slim one holding a pistol, while the burly man was holding a shotgun.
“Hold it!” The slim biker shouted. “Where the heck did you come from?”
“Eh, looks like a spy to me.” The burly man said. “Get him.”
“Woah woah woah! Wait!” Mav shouts as he backs away from both of them. “I’m sorry, what spy? I just got here and you’re ratting me out?”
“Stop denying and identify yourself.” The slim biker puts the pistol on the cat’s head. “Otherwise, I’ll blow your cat brain into smithereens.”
“Okay okay, I’ll tell ya! So I– ahem, was digging through piles of trash.”
“What are you digging trash for?” The slim biker is confused.
“I know it seems complicated, but I’m not from here, honest!” Mav breaks out in a sweat. “If you need help with anything then I’ll be the purr-fect guy for the job.”
The slim biker is having thoughts of letting the red cat join their gang, but he would have to earn their trust first.
“All right, seems like you’re not one of them.” The slim biker sighs and puts down the pistol. “And since you are willing to coordinate, we might as well let you in. How’s that?”
“As long as I’m not getting shot on the head, I’ll definitely be fine.” Mav breathes a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, a bunch of mopeds arrive at the scene. A cartoon woman wearing a 50’s waitress outfit jumps down off one of the more flashy mopeds.
“If you’re still looking for a retirement job, you know where to find me.”
“Sally…” The slim biker looked at her in anger.
“You still owe us from trespassing our property. Thieves like you should be in jail… oh?”
Sally then takes a look at Mav.
“And what do we have here? Red fur, a sly look… oh darling, you should have joined me instead!~” Sally exclaimed.
“He’s not for sale, and you know it.” The slim biker said.
Sally then takes a step closer to the biker.
“Oh Rebecca, you don’t know this world we live in. It’s, ‘survive or die trying’.”
Sally then returns to her moped.
“We’ll meet at the diner once your ‘junker’ is restored. Toodles!~”
Then they all sped off.
Mav looks at the horizon and asks, “what was that about?”
“Something about a small deed that needs to be repaid… I’ll explain everything once we get to the garage.”
The biker takes off the helmet and reveals a woman with long orange hair.
“I’ll introduce myself, I’m Rebecca. The other one is Rico.”
“I’m Maverick, but you can call me ‘Mav’.”
“A pretty name for a cool cat like you.” Rebecca said. “I’ll take you to the garage for me to explain everything.”
The trio heads to the garage, and Rebecca starts to explain everything about their situation.
“My crew was led by my father who passed away a few years ago. Everything went downhill after he passed, and now it’s just the two of us left in here.”
Rebecca opens the garage to reveal an abandoned chopper bike.
“This was my father’s.” She starts to explain. “This bike was used by him for centuries and is still an icon of the Skullblazers. I wish I could repair it for this bike to roar on the streets once more.”
“Well, why not repair it together? I’m a handful on the repair work.” Mav said.
“Really? Then let’s get down to business before the meeting!”
Rico, Rebecca, and Mav, repair the bike together for a few days.
The day during the meet, Mav is now wearing a biker jacket with a skull logo on it. Rebecca and Rico are riding on sport bikes thanks to Mav’s bribery of the sport bike shopkeeper.
The trio are now heading to the Royals Diner, owned by Sally. But as they arrived, the diner was in total chaos, and Sally was nowhere to be seen.
“Some random gang held her hostage! And now the diner is on fire!” One of the member’s panicked.
Mav approaches the Royals member.
“Do you know where they went?” He asks.
“I think… They went south towards a rural area. Please save our leader!”
Mav looks at Rico and Rebecca. They both nodded in unison and headed towards the rural area.
As soon as they arrive, they come across an intersection.
“We better split up, I’ll head straight, Rico can take the left path, and Rebecca can take the right path.”
“Agreed. It’s better to cover a lot of areas in one go. Let’s do this crew!”
The trio then split up.
As Mav goes straight, he notices a familiar moped parked nearby one of the warehouses. It was Sally’s moped, the same one she rode on their first encounter. Mav quickly went straight to the warehouse to investigate.
Upon getting closer, he heard two people talking. Mav hides behind the shadows as he tries to overhear the conversation.
“We finally caught ourselves a princess eh?”
“Yeah, she’s better off locked in a cage than working on a diner hahah!”
“Just wait for your ‘Prince Charming’, he’ll be dead right after you escape.”
Then the pair went out of the warehouse, and Sally remained inside the cage, weeping and crying for help.
“Oh, woe is me! How did I ever end up in such a mess? If only there’s a knight in shining armor approaching this prison and save me…” Sally cried.
A flash of green missed Sally by inches, and the whole cage suddenly fell down in one swoop.
Mav approaches her.
“Come, quickly. Before they come back.”
Sally nodded, and the pair hopped on Mav’s chopper bike and went back to the diner.
Mav used a flip phone and called the rest of the gang.
“Sally’s with me. Now it’s time for us to return to the diner.”
However, Mav was suddenly tailgated by two bikers, with each carrying a pistol on one hand.
“Get back here! You won’t survive out in the open!” The rival biker shouted as he fired his pistol.
But Mav, having the agility of a normal cat, quickly dodges out of the bullet hail while protecting Sally too.
Fortunately, Rico and Rebecca merged alongside Mav and they both repelled the chasing bikers.
A few minutes later, they safely arrive at Royals Diner.
“Thank you for saving our leader!” One of the members exclaimed as soon as they saw Sally back safe and sound.
“Anything to help people out.” Mav replied.
Suddenly, Mav noticed Sally staring right at him and the other gang members.
“Hmm, you’re not too bad after all. Maybe next time you should consider joining the diner.”
Mav sighed.
“But! Because of your heroic deeds, I shall spare your gang for now, and will receive some funding from the Royals. That way, your small crew can go around as they please.”
“Does that mean the Skullblazers will receive support from the Royals? That’s even better than disbanding!” Rebecca exclaimed.
“With this funding, you can expand your crew far and wide, and that’s a good thing.” Mav said.
“Yeah, but one more thing.” Rebecca replied.
“And what’s that?”
“My father’s bike, it suits you more. I want you to have it.” Rebecca said. “Treasure it well.”
“I will. And I hope the legacy of Skullblazers will spread fear through all corners of the city.”
Rebecca and Rico waves at Mav as he rides toward the sunset.
End.

Post-Ending Notes
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make the story too in-depth. There were a lot of ideas, but most of them were pretty scrapped.
