FAQ

What's with the name Australis?

The name Australis is derived from the historical term Terra Australis Incognita, meaning 'Unknown Southern Land'. This name was given to a hypothetical undiscovered continent, that was later found to be Australia, hence the similarity in the names. While Australia adapted the name, we did not, and thus we are Australis, which in Latin means South.

Where is your capital?

Our capital is named Jarrahview, in the Australissian territory of Australis Town. It is situated approximately 300 kilometers from the main Australissian contiguous territory, in the Augusta-Margaret River region of Western Australia.

Why are all the state names Latin?

Early in Australissian history, we had a naming scheme for the states and nation name to be in Latin. Each name represents a value. For example, the state Amicitia means 'friendship' in Latin.
