Privacy Policy — Australian Citizenship Quiz

Last updated: 21 September 2026

“Australian Citizenship Quiz” (the “App”) is developed by Michele Lavarini (the “Developer”), an independent developer based in Italy, and is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

This policy explains, in plain English, what information is involved when you use the App.

1. At a glance

•        The App never asks for your name, email address, phone number or any other personal details.

•        You do not need an account and there is nothing to sign up for.

•        Your progress and statistics are saved only on your own device.

•        The App shows ads from Google AdMob. Personalised ads are shown only where you allow them, and you can change your choice.

•        The App is free and has no in-app purchases.

2. Information stored by the App

The App does not collect, store or send any information that identifies you, such as your name, email address, phone number or precise location.

Your study data — the questions you have answered, your list of mistakes, your statistics by topic and your practice test results — is kept only in the local storage of your device. It is never sent to the Developer or to any server. If you uninstall the App or clear its data in your device settings, this data is permanently deleted.

3. Advertising

The App shows banner ads and, from time to time, full-screen ads served by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC (for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the service is provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Ads are what keep the App free.

Consent. Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a consent form from Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) on first launch, under the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework. In that form you choose whether Google and its advertising partners may use data to show you personalised ads. If you do not agree, only non-personalised or limited ads are shown. Where this option is available in your country, you can review or change your choice at any time in the App under “Settings → Ad settings”.

iOS. On iPhone and iPad, the system also asks, through App Tracking Transparency, whether the App may track your activity across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you say no, the advertising identifier (IDFA) is not used.

When an ad is loaded, the advertising SDK sends certain information to Google, including: the device advertising identifier (only where you have allowed it), your IP address (used to estimate an approximate location), the device model, operating system, language and App version, and information about the ads shown and how you interact with them. Some of this technical information is needed even for non-personalised ads, to deliver the ad, limit how often it is shown and prevent fraud.

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the legal basis for personalised ads is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR); for non-personalised ads, it is the Developer’s legitimate interest in funding a free App (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Google may transfer data to the United States; Google LLC is certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

4. Who the App is for

The Australian citizenship test is taken by adults: most applicants aged 18 to 59 are required to sit it. The App is therefore intended for adults.

•        The App does not ask for your age or date of birth, and treats every user in the same way.

•        The App does not collect personal data from anyone.

•        The App has no chat, messaging, user-generated content, social features or in-app purchases.

The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Parents and guardians can contact the Developer at the address in section 8.

5. Where the content comes from, and independence

Questions. The App contains 291 practice questions written by the Developer from the testable section (Parts 1 to 4) of “Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond”, the booklet published by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs to help people prepare for the citizenship test. The booklet is © Commonwealth of Australia and is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0). Only the text of the booklet has been used: the App does not reproduce the Commonwealth Coat of Arms, which is excluded from the licence, or any images from the booklet.

The questions, answer options and explanations are adaptations written by the Developer. They are not official test questions: the questions used in the official test are not published. Each explanation ends with the page of the booklet it is based on.

Practice test. The practice test in the App follows the format described by the Department of Home Affairs: 20 multiple-choice questions in 45 minutes, including 5 questions on Australian values; to pass, you need at least 15 correct answers and all 5 values questions correct. The official test may present questions and answer options differently.

No affiliation. This App is an independent, private project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorised by the Australian Government, the Department of Home Affairs or any other public body, and the use of the booklet under its licence does not imply any endorsement by the Commonwealth of Australia. The App is not a way to apply for citizenship, book the test, sit the test or obtain any document.

6. Disclaimer

The content of the App is provided for study purposes only.

The Developer works to keep the questions in line with the current edition of the booklet, but cannot guarantee that every answer is complete and correct, or that the App is updated as soon as the booklet or the test rules change. The official booklet and the information published by the Department of Home Affairs always prevail.

Good results in the App do not guarantee that you will pass the official test. The Developer has no role in how the test is run or in its results.

The Developer accepts no liability for any direct or indirect loss arising from the use of the information in the App.

7. Your choices

•        Delete your data: uninstall the App, clear its data in your device settings, or use the reset option in the App’s Statistics screen. You do not need to contact the Developer, who does not hold this data.

•        Advertising choices: review or change your consent in the App under “Settings → Ad settings” (shown where local rules require it, in particular in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland). You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads; iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking).

•        Your rights: if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can exercise your rights under the GDPR (access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent) by writing to the address in section 8, and you can lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country. If you are in Australia, information about your privacy rights is available from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (www.oaic.gov.au). As the Developer holds no personal data, requests about advertising data are best sent directly to Google (see the links in section 3).
