Granbury Middle School


Austin Long graduated from Tarleton State University in 2015 with a BFA in Theatre. After traveling the country performing in state fairs and festivals, Mr. Long decided to pursue a career in education.

 From 2016 to 2018, Mr. Long worked as the Technical Director at Aledo High School. During his time in Aledo, he oversaw technical direction of six theatrical productions as well as designed the set for their production of Once Upon a Mattress

Mr. Long worked as the Head Theatre Director at Truett Wilson Middle School from 2018 to 2022. During his time at Wilson Middle School, he directed over 15 productions, including four one act plays for the Northwest ISD Middle School One Act Play Competition. Of the four contest pieces he directed, two received the highest honor of Best Production, and one received Runner Up.

From 2022 to 2024, Mr. Long worked as the Technical Director for Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA). As the Technical Director at FWAFA, Mr. Long oversaw all technical aspects for dance, choir and theatre productions. During his time at FWAFA, Mr. Long worked on more than 30 productions, as well as served as the lighting designer for their production of Peter and the Starcatcher as well as the set designer for A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Addams Family

As of 2024, Mr. Long is the Theatre Arts Director at Granbury Middle School. With Granbury Middle School, Austin directed a production of Junie B. Jones, their first musical production since COVID. Since then, he has directed Where the Sky Meets the Sea, Annie, Jr. and their upcoming competition piece, The Amazing Lemonade Girl.

Mr. Long looks forward to continuing his work in education, harvesting a love for the arts in students for years to come.
