This policy explains what information the Aura Reader app ("Aura Reader", "the app", "we") handles, why, and what choices you have. Aura Reader is an EPUB reader for Android. It has no user accounts, no advertising, and no analytics of what you read.
Your books, library, reading progress, bookmarks, quotes, notes, characters and places, tags, collections, reading statistics, generated narration audio and settings are stored only on your device. We do not receive them. If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include some of this app data in your device backup; that backup is handled by Google under your Google account settings.
Books you add from your device or from a folder you choose are read and stored locally. The app only accesses files and folders you pick.
Aura Reader uses the following third-party services. Each receives only what is described here.
Purchases — Google Play and RevenueCat. Aura Reader Pro (a one-time purchase) and optional donations are paid through Google Play. We use RevenueCat to confirm and restore purchases and to apply the free book-import allowance. RevenueCat receives:
your purchase history for this app (products bought, transaction and store receipt data);
an app-specific identifier created on your device from Android's device ID. The raw Android ID is never sent; it is combined with an app-specific value and hashed before use;
the number of free book imports you have used.
We use this only to unlock Pro, restore purchases, and enforce the free import allowance. Payment details (such as your card) are handled by Google Play and are never visible to us or to RevenueCat. See the Google Privacy Policy and the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
On-device translation — Google ML Kit. When you translate a word or passage, the translation happens on your device; the text you translate is not sent to Google. Translation language models are downloaded from Google only when you ask for them. Google's ML Kit library sends Google diagnostic and usage information (for example device and app information, performance metrics and the languages you have configured) to maintain and improve the service. See the ML Kit terms and privacy.
Online dictionary lookups — Wiktionary. If you look up a definition online, the word you look up is sent directly from your device to Wiktionary (operated by the Wikimedia Foundation). This happens only when you request a definition. See the Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy.
Offline dictionary downloads — jsDelivr. Offline dictionary packs you choose to download are served by the jsDelivr content delivery network. As with any download, the server receives your device's IP address. No personal information about you is included in the request.
We do not sell your information.
We do not show ads or use advertising identifiers.
We do not track your reading or send your books, notes or quotes anywhere.
We do not require an account.
All information the app sends to the services above is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). The free import counter stored on your device is protected with the Android Keystore.
Information stored on your device is deleted when you remove the book or data in the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. Purchase records held by Google Play and RevenueCat are retained as needed to keep your purchases available and to meet legal and accounting obligations. To ask us to delete the RevenueCat record associated with your installation, email us at the address below; note that deleting it may prevent purchases from being restored automatically.
Aura Reader is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, note them in the app's release notes.
