GROUP TOURS AT AU LIBRARY
Explore the wonders of Au Library with our guided group tours! Booking a tour is easy—simply use the form at the bottom of this page. Please note that tour availability is limited as we gradually restore programs and services to pre-pandemic levels.
Our knowledgeable staff at Au Library is excited to customize a visit that suits your group's interests. We offer a range of options, including:
A tour of the library, showcasing departments of interest.
Overviews of print and electronic resources in specific subject areas.
Catalog and database instruction.
Reference support for students or adult learners working on independent projects.
Group Borrowing (details on Group Borrowing Cards below).
Fun activities like Scavenger Hunt Bingo.
Self-guided tours (visit a Librarian desk for more information).
Guidelines for Scheduling:
Tours and group visits are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00-11:30 AM or 1:30-3:00 PM.
To ensure ample space and staffing, please schedule group visits at least two weeks in advance.
We limit one group visit per day within the same time-frame for an enhanced experience.
Unannounced group visits may not receive a full tour.
Group Sizes and Chaperone Ratios:
For preschool through grade 12 groups: No more than 25-30 members per group visit with at least one chaperone for every 15 students.
For college-age visits and above: No more than 30 members per group visit with at least one chaperone.
Cancellation Policy:
Notify the Library at least 24 hours in advance by emailing tours@aulibrary.org for any cancellations.
Library Cards:
We offer Group Borrowing Cards for schools or organizations, providing access to materials and electronic resources during your visit.
Cards are valid for 60 days, with reactivation options for future visits.
All group tour visitors in Allegheny County are eligible.
Up to five individuals accompanying the tour can be listed for account access.
Lunch Options:
For lunchtime visits, pack shelf-stable food items (staff can store on carts).
Groups of 25 or smaller may request a lunch space, subject to availability.
Parking and Bus Drop Off:
A six-level parking facility is available for cars and small vans.
Buses can drop off on Schenley Drive, in the bus lanes next to Phipps Conservatory.
