My name is Brianna and I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies & Storytelling at East Tennessee State University. I am a dedicated teacher-scholar who explores the ways in which storytelling and story-listening can perpetuate stigma, challenge inequities, and open possibilities for building healthier futures.

I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in communication, qualitative methods, and the health humanities. I am also an active member of narrative medicine and health humanities communities. I am passionate about sharing the power of storytelling to improve healthcare.

In my free time, I love exploring the natural beauty of Appalachia, training horses using positive reinforcement (R+), and cross stitching embroidery.
