The Food Recovery Network: Augusta University Chapter was founded in 2022 as a local chapter of the National Food Recovery Network. We are a student-led organization that aims to relieve food insecurity while decreasing food waste.
According to the Golden Harvest Food Bank, 1 in 8 individuals in the CSRA struggle with food insecurity. In partnership with Sodexo Dining, we deliver surplus food from our campus dining halls to local community organizations (shelters, food pantries) to help increase food security in our local community.
Five days a week, our shift leaders and volunteers package surplus food from our dining hall & Einstein's Bagels. Then, we deliver it to 4 local community partner organizations in the CSRA, who further serve the food to community members in need.
Our shift leaders lead biweekly shifts to rescue food from our dining halls and deliver it to local community partners. Applications for spring shift leaders are now closed.
Interested in getting more involved? Executive board applications will be open next May.
