Audiobook Player and Notes
Audiobook Player Privacy Policy
Audiobook Player is an offline audio player with timestamped notes, bookmarks, and a learning journal. This policy explains how the app handles your information.
1 Information processed on your device
When you select audio files or folders through Android's file picker, Audiobook Player accesses the selected documents to play audio and read available titles, authors, cover art, file types, and durations. It saves library information, document references, and cover images locally.
The app also stores your listening position, chapter, playback speed, bookmarks, note text and timestamps, listening sessions, and settings. This information supports playback, your personal learning journal, and backup and restore. Notes may contain personal information if you choose to write it.
Audio playback and your learning content do not require an account or an internet connection. We do not upload your audio files, written notes, bookmarks, book titles or listening journal as analytics event parameters or custom diagnostic logs. Audiobook Player has no advertising or payments, and we do not sell your app data.
2 Optional usage analytics and crash reports
Audiobook Player includes Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to help QAnd Mobile understand general feature usage and diagnose app failures. Both options are off by default. You can separately enable Share usage analytics and Share crash reports under Settings → Help improve Audiobook Player. These choices are not required to listen, take notes, import files, or export your journal.
When usage analytics is enabled, Firebase can process app interactions, session and engagement information, app and device details, and app-instance identifiers. The app's custom screen events use only fixed feature names such as library, player, notes, journal, and settings. Analytics can derive approximate location from network information; Audiobook Player does not request device location permission. Advertising ID collection and advertising consent categories are disabled.
When crash reports are enabled, Crashlytics can process stack traces, exception details, app and operating-system versions, device diagnostics, session information, and installation identifiers. Analytics events may also appear as diagnostic breadcrumbs when both options are enabled. We do not set a personal user ID or deliberately attach audio, note contents, document paths or book titles. Automatic exception details may contain information produced by the operating system or other libraries.
Enabled diagnostics are sent to Google Firebase over encrypted connections and can be viewed by QAnd Mobile in its Firebase project. Google may process data where it or its service providers maintain facilities. See Firebase privacy and security and Google's privacy policy.
Turning off analytics disables future analytics collection and resets locally held analytics data. Turning off crash reporting takes full effect after the app restarts. Crashlytics can hold reports locally while automatic reporting is disabled; the app asks the SDK to discard unsent reports while opted out. These settings do not delete data already sent to Google. Crashlytics retains crash information and associated identifiers for 90 days before beginning deletion; Analytics retention follows the configuration of the project's Analytics property. For questions about already submitted data, contact support@qandmobile.com. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes app-local settings and cached data, but does not erase reports previously submitted to Google.
3 File access notifications and sensors
Audiobook Player uses Android's system file picker rather than requesting access to all device storage. Access to selected documents can be retained so the app can play them later. You can remove library entries or manage document access through your device's settings and file provider.
Foreground media playback allows audio to continue while the app is in the background. On supported Android versions, the app may ask for notification permission to display playback controls. You can decline or revoke notification permission in Android settings.
If you enable shake-to-extend, the app reads accelerometer measurements while a sleep timer is active. Measurements are processed on the device to detect a shake; they are not saved or transmitted. You can disable this feature in the app's settings.
Audiobook Player does not request access to your microphone, camera, contacts, or location.
Internet access and network status permissions support optional Firebase reporting. The Firebase SDKs also use background scheduling permissions supplied by Android. None of these permissions gives the app access to all storage or uploads your audiobook library.
4 Exports backups and sharing
Audiobook Player creates journal exports and JSON backups only when you request them. Journal exports can contain book and chapter titles, notes, bookmarks, dates, timestamps, and listening totals. JSON backups can contain library information, file references, progress, bookmarks, notes, and listening history. JSON backups do not include audio files, cover images, app settings, or transferable file-access permissions.
You choose where to save exported files and which app receives a shared journal. If you choose a cloud-backed document provider or recipient app, that service may process or upload the selected data under its own privacy policy. Audiobook Player itself does not upload it to QAnd Mobile.
Exports and backups are not encrypted by Audiobook Player. Store and share them carefully if they contain private notes or listening information. Automatic Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup of Audiobook Player's app data are disabled by the app's backup configuration.
5 Storage retention and deletion
The app's database, settings, saved covers, and temporary export or backup files are kept in app-private storage protected by Android's application sandbox. Original audio stays in the location you selected. This protection does not prevent access by someone who can unlock your device or otherwise access its storage.
Your library and learning data remain on the device until you remove them or clear the app's storage. You can edit or delete individual notes and bookmarks. Removing a book deletes its library entry, progress, and associated notes and bookmarks without deleting its original audio. Listening history, including a stored book title, can remain in your journal after a book is removed.
To delete all app-local library data, listening history, and settings, clear Audiobook Player's storage in Android settings or uninstall the app. Temporary export and backup files may remain in the private cache until cleared by app cleanup, Android, or clearing app storage. The app cleans up files older than 24 hours when another operation of the corresponding export or backup type runs.
Clearing app storage or uninstalling does not delete your original audio or copies you saved or shared outside the app. Delete those separately from the chosen storage location or recipient service.
6 Audio content and your choices
Audiobook Player does not provide, host, sell, or distribute an audiobook catalog. Use audio you own or are authorized to access, and respect the rights of authors, publishers, and other rights holders. Consider those rights and other people's privacy before sharing journal excerpts or notes.
The app does not publish your files or notes to other users. Any transfer to another app or storage provider is initiated by you.
7 Changes and contact
This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the app's data practices. The current version will show its last-updated date.
For privacy questions, contact QAnd Mobile at support@qandmobile.com. Please avoid including audio files or sensitive note content in your enquiry. If you choose to email us, your email service and our email provider will handle that communication; it is separate from the app's local data processing.
