If you want high-fidelity, wired audiophile sound for stationary listening and critical music production, choose Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM; if you need a protective cover to extend the life of your existing wireless headphones during intense activity like jogging, choose TXEsign QC35. These two items serve entirely different purposes in your audio ecosystem, and confusing them is a mistake I have seen too many buyers make. One is a complete, premium headphone system designed for sonic purity, while the other is an accessory meant to shield another pair of headphones from sweat and wear.
• Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM: Delivers rich, detailed Hi-Res audio with 45mm drivers and memory foam comfort, but requires a wired connection and offers no active noise cancellation.
• TXEsign QC35: A durable neoprene headband protector that shields compatible headphones from scratches and sweat, but provides zero audio features or sound quality on its own.
• Who it's for: The Audio-Technica unit is for the serious listener who prioritizes sound reproduction above all else, while the TXEsign item is for anyone looking to protect their investment in mid-sized wireless headphones.
The Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM is not a casual accessory; it is a piece of professional-grade audio equipment built for those who demand to hear every nuance of a recording. This over-ear design utilizes newly engineered 45 mm True Motion Drivers that are specifically tuned to reproduce Hi-Res Audio. If you are someone who listens to high-quality digital files or vinyl rips and wants to hear the music exactly as the artist intended, this is the tool for you. The engineering behind these drivers includes lightweight voice coils and a custom-mounted printed circuit board, which work together to improve transient response and minimize distortion. You will notice a level of detail in the highs and lows that cheaper headphones simply cannot replicate.
Beyond the drivers, the physical construction of the ATH-MSR7GM speaks to durability and acoustic integrity. The housings are crafted from a mix of aluminum and magnesium, creating a rigid structure that significantly reduces unwanted resonance. This isn't just about looks; it ensures that the casing itself does not vibrate and muddy up the sound. Inside, multi-layer Air Damping Technology extends the mid-to-low frequency response, giving the bass a tighter, more controlled punch without overwhelming the mids. The design also incorporates three precisely placed vents that manage airflow, further enhancing dynamics. Whether you are mixing tracks in a studio or sitting in a quiet room at home, the acoustic mesh resistor made of stainless steel adds another layer of precision to the tuning.

Comfort is a major selling point here, especially for long listening sessions. The ear pads and headband are lined with soft memory foam that molds to the shape of your ears and head. The ear placement is over-ear, meaning the cups fully encompass your ears rather than resting on them, which helps with passive noise isolation. The headband features a highly flexible swivel design, allowing the headphones to adjust naturally to different head shapes. However, there are trade-offs you must accept before buying. These are wired headphones with a 3.5 mm jack connectivity technology, meaning you are tethered to your source device. There is no Bluetooth, no battery to charge, and no active noise cancellation. If you need total freedom of movement for running or commuting without cables, this product will frustrate you immediately. It is strictly for environments where you can sit still and focus on the audio experience.
It is crucial to understand exactly what the TXEsign QC35 is before considering it for your next purchase. This is not a pair of headphones. It is a replacement headband cover designed to fit over the existing headbands of specific models like the Bose QuietComfort 25, Bose QuietComfort 35, Beats Solo 3, and Soundlink AE II. If you already own one of these popular wireless headphones and you use them frequently for activities like jogging, this accessory becomes essential. The primary function here is protection and hygiene. When you run, sweat accumulates rapidly on the headband material. Over time, this moisture degrades the leather or plastic padding, leading to cracks, peeling, and unpleasant odors. The TXEsign cover acts as a barrier, keeping your original headphones clean and extending their lifespan.
The materials used in this cover are chosen specifically for athletic performance. The outer shell is composed of 70% Neoprene, a material known for its breathability and resistance to water and sweat. This breathable fabric helps wick away moisture, preventing the buildup that causes skin irritation during long workouts. The inner lining features a microfiber layer, providing a smooth surface that feels gentle against your skin. To ensure a perfect fit, the tunnel section of the cover is made from stretchable Lycra fabric. This elasticity allows the cover to hug the contour of your headphones tightly without slipping off, even when you are moving vigorously. The zipper closing mechanism is reinforced with layers of fabric to prevent any metal teeth from scratching the underlying headphone finish, a thoughtful detail that shows an understanding of user needs.
This product is ideal for people who love their wireless headphones but find that the standard headbands become uncomfortable or damaged after a few months of heavy use. It works well for runners who need a secure fit and want to avoid the sticky feeling of sweaty leather. The package includes a single headband cover, and installation is straightforward thanks to the durable zipper. However, it is important to note the limitations. It only fits mid-sized headphones with a cushion pad width of up to 1-1/2 inches. If your headphones are oversized or undersized, this cover will not work. Furthermore, it does not add any sound quality, battery life, or noise cancellation features. It is purely a protective skin. If you do not own a compatible headphone model, this item has absolutely no value to you. It is a niche solution for a very specific problem: protecting expensive headphones from the rigors of an active lifestyle.
When you strip away the marketing fluff and look at the raw specifications and intended use cases, the choice becomes clear based on your immediate needs.
• Best for pure audio fidelity → Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM. With its 5-40,000 Hz frequency range and 45mm dynamic drivers, it offers a clarity that an accessory simply cannot match.
• Best for protecting wireless gear → TXEsign QC35. If you own Bose QC35 or Beats Solo 3 units, this is the only way to keep the headband from rotting due to sweat.
• Best for wired, stationary listening → Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM. The 3.5 mm jack connectivity makes it perfect for desktop setups, home studios, or home theater systems.
• Best for active exercise → TXEsign QC35 (as a complement). While it doesn't play music, it enables you to use your wireless headphones safely during runs by managing sweat and friction.
• Best for comfort during long sessions → Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM. The memory foam ear pads and aluminum/magnesium build offer superior ergonomic support for hours of wear.
• Best for easy maintenance → TXEsign QC35. The removable, washable nature of the neoprene cover makes cleaning trivial compared to scrubbing a leather headband.
• Best for travel (portability) → Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM. Despite being over-ear, the included carrying case and foldable design make it relatively compact for a full headphone set.
• Best for budget-conscious expansion → TXEsign QC35. Since it is an accessory, it costs significantly less than buying a whole new pair of headphones, though it only solves one part of the equation.
I would buy the Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM if my goal was to listen to music with absolute precision. The combination of the 45mm True Motion Drivers and the rigid aluminum/magnesium chassis creates a listening experience that feels premium and professional. The passive noise cancellation provided by the deep over-ear seal is excellent for focusing on the details of a track. However, if I am going out for a run and need to keep my existing wireless headphones comfortable and dry, I would reach for the TXEsign QC35 headband cover. It is a smart, practical investment that saves my current gear from sweat damage. Ultimately, for the specific use case of jogging, neither product is a standalone solution for "playing music" in the same way, but the TXEsign cover is the only logical choice to facilitate safe, comfortable wireless listening while running, whereas the Audio-Technica unit is the superior choice for anyone seeking high-resolution audio quality in a controlled environment.
The Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM is wired and lacks a clip, making it poor for jogging due to cable drag and lack of stability. The TXEsign QC35 is a headband cover, not a headphone, but it protects compatible wireless headphones from sweat while jogging.
It relies on the memory foam ear pads and the sealed over-ear design to block external sound, not electronic ANC.
Yes, the neoprene and microfiber materials are designed to be durable and resistant to sweat. The removable zipper design allows for easy cleaning to maintain hygiene during active use.
The Audio-Technica headphones weigh 0.29 kg, while the TXEsign headband cover weighs only 13.88 g. The significant weight difference reflects that one is a complete audio device and the other is a lightweight accessory.
