Privacy Policy for SpectraView: Audio Analyzer

This policy explains what SpectraView: Audio Analyzer ("the app", "we", "us") does with information when you use it. It applies to the Android application distributed through Google Play under the package name com.adrjdev.audioanalyzerspectrumrta.
Please read the section on microphone audio carefully. It is the part most people want to know about, and it is the part where this app behaves differently from what many users assume.
1. Summary
- The app does not record you. Microphone audio is analysed on your device, moment to moment, in memory. It is never uploaded, never sent to us, and never saved as an audio recording.
- There is no account. You do not sign in. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not know who you are.
- Your measurements stay on your phone. Saved measurements, calibration profiles and settings are stored locally in the app's private storage. They are not synced to any server.
- Two Google services do collect data: Google AdMob (to show ads) and Google Analytics for Firebase (to understand how the app is used). Both are described in full below.
- We do not sell your personal information.
2. Microphone audio
The app needs the RECORD_AUDIO permission because it is a sound analyser: it measures what the microphone hears and draws it as a spectrum, spectrogram, waveform, level meter or octave display.
How microphone audio is handled:
- Audio samples are read from the microphone into a small in-memory buffer, analysed (Fourier transform, level statistics, pitch estimation and so on),
and then overwritten by the next block of audio. Nothing is
- Microphone audio is never transmitted off your device, to us or to anyone else.
- Microphone audio is never written to storage as a recording,ure to record or play back captured audio.
- Some measurements need a short buffer of the recent signal in order to work at all. A swept-sine frequency response measurement has to compare what was
played against what was heard. That buffer lives in memory fement and is discarded when it finishes.
- The app does not listen in the background. Capture runs only while the app is in the foreground and an analysing screen is open, and stops when you
leave the app.
What is derived from audio and may be stored: if you explicitl stores the results, meaning level figures, afrequency-response curve, detected peaks, the settings in use and any note you type. These are numbers describing sound, not audio, and they are stored
only on your device.
3. Information stored on your device
The app keeps the following in its private storage area, which
- Saved measurements. Curves, levels, peaks, timestamps and anu can review and compare them later.
- Calibration profiles. An offset in decibels, a name and a reference level, so that the app can show estimated sound pressure instead of relative levels.
- App settings and preferences. FFT size, frequency weighting, input and output devices, and similar choices, so that the app behaves the way you left it.
This information is not sent to us and is not backed up to any server by the app. Uninstalling the app removes it. You can also delete all saved
measurements from inside the app, from the navigation drawer.
Note: if you have Android's own "Back up to Google Drive" featel, your device may include app data in your personal Googlebackup. That backup is controlled by you and by Google, under Google's terms, not by us.
4. Files you export or share
The app can export a measurement as a CSV file or a PNG report.
- When you export, Android's system file picker asks you where to save it. The app writes only to the location you choose. It does not browse or read the
rest of your storage, and it does not request storage permis
- When you use "Share report", the image is written to the app's temporary cache folder and handed to the app you pick from the Android share sheet. What
happens to it after that is governed by the app or service y
Exported files contain measurement data, the settings in use, the measurement, the name you typed. They contain no audio.
5. Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
The app includes Google Analytics for Firebase so that we can gregate: how many people open it, which parts are used, whether it crashes on particular devices or Android versions, and whether an update made things better or worse.
We do not write custom analytics events that describe your measurements. What is collected is the data that the Firebase Analytics SDK gathers
automatically, which includes:
- Automatically collected events, such as first opening the apewed, app updates and app removal.
- A pseudonymous app instance identifier generated by Firebase to distinguish one installation from another. It is not your name, email address or phone
number.
- Device and app information, including device model, operating system version, app version, language, and coarse region or country derived from your IP
address.
- The Advertising ID on devices where it is available. See section 7.
This information goes to Google, which processes it as our data processor and in accordance with its own terms. Google's documentation on what Firebase

We use analytics to maintain and improve the app. We do not usly, and we do not attempt to link it to any other informationabout you.
6. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free and is funded by advertising. It shows ads through Google AdMob in three formats: a banner, an occasional full-screen ad when you close a
tool, and an ad when you return to the app after a while. No arement is running.
To serve ads, Google may collect and process:
- device identifiers, including the Advertising ID;
- your IP address, from which an approximate location, typically at country or city level, is derived;
- information about the ads you are shown and interact with;
- general device and app information.
Google may use this to serve personalised or non-personalised advertising, depending on your consent and your device settings. Google's own explanation of

Consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows you a consent message from Google's User Messaging
Platform before requesting ads, and honours the choice you mak at any time from Settings > Privacy inside the app, where a"Privacy options" control appears if it applies to your region.
7. Advertising ID
The app's release build includes the com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID permission, which is required by the Google Mobile Ads and Firebase Analytics
libraries in order to access the Android Advertising ID.
The Advertising ID is a resettable, pseudonymous identifier cot it, or switch off ad personalisation entirely, in yourdevice's settings, usually under Settings > Privacy > Ads, or Settings > Google > Ads, depending on your device.
8. What the app does not do
To be explicit, because these are the assumptions users of a microphone app most often carry:
- It does not record, store or transmit audio.
- It does not listen in the background or when the screen is o
- It does not ask for your name, email address, phone number or any account.
- It does not request access to your contacts, photos, files,
- It does not sell personal information, and it does not share it with third parties other than the service providers named in this policy.
- It does not knowingly collect information from children. See
9. Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK users)
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on the following
- Consent, Article 6(1)(a), for personalised advertising, and identifiers where consent is required. You give or refuse this through the consent message described in section 6, and you can change it at any time.
- Legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f), for keeping the app wte usage, and preventing abuse and fraud, where this does notoverride your rights.
Microphone audio is not processed under any of these bases, because it never leaves your device and is never received by us.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal information, to
withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with a data protectalifornia and certain other United States jurisdictions mayhave rights to know, delete and correct personal information, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing". We do not sell or share personal information as
those terms are defined.
Practical steps you can take at any time:
- Withdraw or change advertising consent, from Settings > Priv
- Limit ad personalisation or reset your Advertising ID, from your device's system settings.
- Delete everything the app has stored, by deleting saved measation drawer, or by uninstalling the app, which removes all ofits local data.
- Revoke microphone access, from Android Settings > Apps > Spepp will explain what is unavailable and will keep working foreverything that does not need the microphone.
To exercise a right that requires us to act, contact us at adrjdev@outlook.com. Because the app has no accounts, we usually hold no information that
identifies you. Where that is the case we will tell you so, anbove, which are the effective way to act on data held by Google as our processor.
11. Data retention
- Data on your device is kept until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Analytics data is retained by Google according to the retent Firebase project, which is currently 2 months for user-leveland event-level data.
- Advertising data is retained by Google according to Google's
12. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, or the equivalen, and we do not knowingly collect personal information fromthem. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at adrjdev@outlook.com and we will act on it.
13. International transfers
Google processes data on servers in a number of countries, which may be outside your own. Where data is transferred out of the European Economic Area or
the United Kingdom, Google relies on transfer mechanisms such Standard Contractual Clauses. See Google's terms for details.
14. Security
Data stored by the app lives in Android's private per-app storem isolates from other apps. Traffic to Google's services usesencrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will change, and material changes will be reflected in the app's store
