Audacity Sound Recorder Free Download

Since some months ago, while recording from an external tape recorder, after 3/4 seconds, the sound just decreases to a minimum level. If i stop the tape and starts again, the sound increases the volume to the normal level, but after a few seconds decreases again. I tried every possible option, and it doest fix the problem. The cables and the plug are ok, as I can read the files in any emulator, so the problem is with Audacity. Anyone had this problem before?
