About Our Club
American University Club Cross Country / Track & Field (AU Club XCTF) is both a competitive and casual running club. As a member of the National Intercollegiate Running Club Association (NIRCA), we participate in cross country and track meets throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Our club is sponsored by the Department of Athletics and Recreation at American University.
We are welcome all runners, regardless of running skill or experience, and we enjoy an ever-growing number of competing and non-competing runners. Alongside weekly practices and frequent races, our club strives to create a welcoming environment by holding team meals, fun runs to the Dupont Circle Farmer's Market or the National Zoo's Christmas lights, and more.
Club XCTF was founded in Fall 2014 and recognized by NIRCA in late October. In Fall 2016, our club reached a major milestone by sending multiple teams to a NIRCA Cross Country Nationals (Hershey, PA) for the first time.
Outside of NIRCA , our members race frequently in the DC region. Members have tackled local 5Ks (Fletcher's Cove parkrun), 10 milers (Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Miler, Army 10-Miler), half marathons (C&O Towpath Half, Rock 'n' Roll Half, Navy-Air Force Half, Georgetown Half), and marathons (Marine Corps Marathon, North Face Endurance Challenge).
Club XCTF was recently featured in a RunWashington article about collegiate club running.
