Two years later, in February 2017, he received his M.Sc. in Informatics with honours in the scientific route of “Information Technology and Information Systems”, for which he was awarded a full tuition-free scholarship. In January 2021, Athanasios completed his doctoral studies, receiving his Ph.D. in Informatics with honours at the aforementioned Department. His Ph.D. dissertation is entitled “Network Resource Optimization in Cloud Computing Environments”. As a Ph.D. student, Athanasios was employed at the Directorate of Informatics & Networks as well as the Dept. of Music Studies of the IU, and has contributed to the assistance and teaching of a number of courses for the Dept. of Informatics and the Dept. of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpretation. Since 2015 and to this day, Athanasios is a researcher at the “Networks, Multimedia and Security Systems Laboratory” (NMSLab). During this time, he has been involved in several R&D projects, funded by both EU and national resources, and has co-authored a series of similar research proposals and scientific publications. In 2021, he was with the Dept. of Informatics, IU, as an Academic Scholar in the subject area of Data and Information Analysis, while in 2022 he was with the Dept. of Tourism, IU, as an Academic Scholar in the subject area of Applications and Services of New Technologies in Tourism. Currently, Dr. Tsipis serves Postdoctoral Researcher at the the Dept. of Audio and Visual Arts, IU, as well as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Dept. of Digital Media and Communication and at the Dept. of Environment, IU. He is a reviewer of numerous international conferences and scientific journals in the area and a guest editor for special issues targeted at the intersection of networking and immersive systems. In 2021 he was the recipient of the best paper award from the 26th IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (ISCC).
