Note from the President

Welcome back, Arkansas NBCTs!

We have had a wonderful start to the beginning of a new school year in Fort Smith. I always love the beginning of a new year. A new year brings new possibilities, new relationships, new goals, and new adventures.

Soon, we will all be in set in our new routines. The newness will wear down. The challenges will begin to surface. The exhaustion may get to you a little more quickly. In those moments, remind yourself why you decided to become a teacher. In those moments, pull out an old note from a student that you impacted. In those moments, share your struggles with a friend and carry the load together.

We all have the extraordinary gift of being a small part of the journey all of our students are walking. We get to be a small piece of the puzzle that is their lives. I know the days can be long, but the years are short.

My hope for all of you this school year is that you constantly remind yourself of the gift you have of being a teacher and the gift that you ARE in being a teacher!

I know we will continue to do great things for our students, our schools, our communities, and ultimately our state. I am so proud to be an educator in Arkansas and look forward to continuing my own journey in my passion for advancing our profession. Every child deserves to be taught by a National Board Certified Teacher! Let's come together in our joint effort to be a voice for all children. #NBCTstrong

Best wishes,

Amanda Chavez
