This dialog does not support updating the firmware on I/O modules or the firmware on In-Sight vision systems that are on different networks and added to In-Sight Explorer using In-Sight Host Table. The firmware on vision systems on different networks that are added to In-Sight Explorer using Explore Remote Subnet List can be updated; however, Cognex recommends to place vision systems on local network when updating firmware to avoid any network failure.

If you have multiple versions of In-Sight Explorer software installed to the PC, you can upgrade or downgrade the firmware to a different version by using the drop-down in the New Version column. For example, if you have In-Sight Explorer 5.4.0 and 5.6.0 installed to the PC, you can upgrade or downgrade an In-Sight 2000 series vision sensor's firmware to 5.6.0 or 5.4.0; or you can upgrade or downgrade an In-Sight 1000 series vision system's firmware to 4.10.5 or 4.10.4.

Optionally, check the Force Update checkbox. When checked, In-Sight Explorer forces to update the firmware by placing the vision system Offline, disconnecting other user from the vision system or ignoring any backup errors. By default, this checkbox is unchecked and the firmware update is aborted if the vision system is Online, logged on by other user or a backup error occurs.

Once all vision systems have been updated and rebooted, click OK to close the Firmware Update dialog, or click Go Back to continue updating other vision system's firmware. If firmware update is failed, click Go Back and check the Force Update and/or Disable Backup and Restore checkboxes and update the firmware again.

If a job containing a large number of functions is loaded on an In-Sight vision system when a firmware update is attempted, the update may be interrupted due to lack of available flash memory. If this occurs:

While the camera is capable of framing individuals, it encounters difficulty when people block the view of those behind them, and is unable to maintain a head-on perspective when participants turn their faces away from the front camera.

With Rally Bar at the front of the room, and Sight at the center of the table, you maintain a consistent front-facing view of in-person interactions as the conversation flows between in-room and remote participants.

So after watching a talk at Defcon 23 about the Tracking Point rifle scope (When IoT Attacks:

Hacking A Linux-Powered Rifle) I got interested and wanted to know what was in budget for some rifle hacking myself. What was identified in this talk was that it was possible to remotely change the point of impact of the bullet by adjusting the ballistic coefficient of the round within the riflescope settings. This meant that it was possible to aim at one target but the bullet to hit somewhere else.

Well this is where the ATN X-sight came in to play. As an avid shooter already I had seen one of these scopes at my local store, and decided that they were pretty neat and at a price point that I could afford that would allow me to enter the night vision world. Before I splashed the cash I did some research on the device first and found a helpful (until I got banned) group devoted to these scopes on Facebook. Over the course of a few months I asked questions such as:

Well before the scope arrived I started to play with the firmware using common *nix tools. I managed to find a repo online contain all the version of the firmware for the ATN X-sight. Unfortunately I lost the link for the repo, but that was after I downloaded the bins myself first. Here they are should anyone need them. As of writing (24th Nov 2015) the latest version is 1.8.07.343 (known in the X-sight community just as 343).

Rather than connect my iPhone to the sight I instead connected my laptop so that I could see what services are visible on the device. I was expecting to see SSH, HTTPS and some form of streaming service for the video. What I actually found was telnet, HTTP and some other clear text services.

I connected to the web service bring provided by Cherokee HTTP Daemon on TCP port 80. This just appeared to be a presentation of the memory card contents and a few other (possibly symlinked) directories.

The telnet service presented a login option so i thought it was worth looking through the firmware to see if i could identify the password. I proceeded to see if I could identify the root password hash in order to brute force that to try and gain access via the telnet service.

The firmware download and installation process is a straight-forward process that can take roughly 5 minutes to successfully carry out. There are, however, preliminary steps and words of caution that need to be adhered to for a safe and successful install.

1. Insert your 64Gb microSD card into your computer. You should see it pop up on the left-hand side of your "Files/Downloads" window. Simply drag-and-drop the unzipped file you previously downloaded and renamed, onto your microSD card. Once you have dragged and dropped the file onto you SD card, confirm the successful transfer by clicking on the SD card. You should clearly see the file within the SD card.

The device is equipped with a USB (type C) port. You will find it under the rubber cap on the right side of the device (caps are marked with appropriate icon).

We have included a USB (type C) charging cable with your scope. Plug the cable into a USB wall charger that has an output of 2 amps (Wall Charger not included).

Charge your scope for 6 hrs using a 2A USB wall charger. Note using a wall charger with lower amperage will take longer to charge your scope.

The device is equipped with a microSD Card and USB (type C) ports. You can find them under the rubber caps on the right side of the device (we marked the caps with appropriate icons).

To open the rubber port cover, gently lift the rubber cover and move it out of the way.

To remove the microSD Card from the port, push the card slightly in using the same thin object you did before. When the card pops up a few millimeters, pull the card out with your fingers or tweezers.

Before operating your device, update the firmware to the latest version. All firmware updates can be found on at

To receive a notification concerning new firmware updates, please register your device on our website. An email notification will be sent when a new firmware update becomes available.

To update the firmware you will need a microSD Card and fully charged internal battery.

NOTE:

In the event of a power failure during an update, the device may crash. This will corrupt the system files and the device will need to be sent back to the ATN factory for service.

To ensure your zero coordinates are not lost, write down your zero coordinates before continuing to update the firmware.

NOTE:

Using LEFT or RIGHT buttons in the Menu. You can quickly choose Exit Shortcut from any position. Use the Function Button from any menu screen to exit to the Home Screen by pressing and holding down the Function button for a few seconds.

The X-Sight 4K has a 3.5-inch eye relief, and can be mounted using 30 mm mounting rings. ATN has provided two standard rings and one L shape ring (For X-Sight 4K Pro only). The L shape ring is for those instances when you need extra eye relief for certain rifles. First, choose your preference of rings and position and mount the bottom portions of your rings to your rail for optimal eye relief. Place the scope on the bottom half of the rings you just mounted, verifying you have sufficient eye relief for your platform. Place the top portion of your ring over the mounted bottom portion, make sure the holes align and the screws turn easily. Apply equal torque to all screws with the provided Allen wrench. Make sure your rings are tight on your rifles rail and will not come loose due to recoil.

General Mode:

The factory preset modes control the brightness of the IR850 illuminator.

The three modes are designated on the tail cap that activates the modes. The modes are distinguishable by the size of the dot on the tail cap. The small dot indicates the lowest power output setting. The medium dot indicates the medium output power setting.

The large dot indicates the strongest output power setting. To activate the desired mode, turn the end of the tail cap, so that the dot indicator is aligned with the desired power output. This will turn on the required output for your needs.

To turn off the IR850 illuminator, simply turn the tail cap so that the dot indicator is positioned on the off setting. 152ee80cbc
