Atalay Atasu (PhD INSEAD, 2007) teaches fundamentals of sustainable business and operations and supply chain management to a variety of business audiences. Professor Atasu’s research focus is on sustainable operations management, and his interests include the circular economy, extended producer responsibility and environmental regulation. His publications appeared in top outlets such as Harvard Business Review, Management Science, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Industrial Ecology, and California Management Review.
Professor Atasu's research has been recognized by several research awards/competitions, including the McKinsey Best HBR Paper Award (2022 finalist), MSOM Journal Best Published Paper Award (2021), MSOM Society Responsible Research Award (2019 winner and runner-up), Wickham Skinner Best Paper Award (winner 2007, runner-up 2014), Wickham Skinner Early Career Research Award (2012), and Paul Kleindorfer Award in Sustainability (2013).
He served as president of the MSOM Society (2020-21); as a Department editor for the Production and Operations Management Journal (2018-2021), and Associate Editor for Production and Operations Management (2009-2018; 2021-), Manufacturing and Service Operations Management (2016-2024) and Management Science (2024-).
Professor Atasu co-founded and directs the INSEAD Sustainable Business Initiative. He is also the co-founder and director of INSEAD's Business Sustainability Program in Executive Education.
