Screen printing & the curriculum!
Silk screen printing is magic! Simple but technical, dynamic yet practical – it's an art form that lends itself to many possibilities. This workshop is for all educators who want to bring screen printing into classrooms to meet diverse learner interests. Our focus will be on making prints using simple and available materials; problem solving technical aspects of the medium and play; and adapting screen printing for the classroom. The day will include demos for how to build/find DIY screens and source mesh and squeegees; multi-colour print techniques; ink varieties; considerations for stencil making approaches for a variety of ages and abilities; and classroom management. Folks will come away with samples, some DIY screen printing gear, and confidence to take this into various classroom contexts, and consider how to make it happen at your school with support through AGNS artist in schools programs.
