We are thrilled that this event will be hosted at Give Kids the World. Give Kids The World Village is an 89-acre, whimsical nonprofit resort in Kissimmee, Florida, that provides week-long, cost-free wish vacations to critically ill children and their families from around the world who want to visit Central Florida. This is an incredible opportunity for us to come together, learn about PODD, and also learn about the great work being done, in support of the very students/families we serve. We are thankful for their hosting us for this training!

WHY: to gain information about the PODD approach
Introduction to PODD ----------- JUNE 9th & 10th, 2022
PODD Training is a two-day course that will demonstrate the use of a Pragmatic Organization of Dynamic Display (PODD) approach developed by Gayle Porter (Melbourne, Australia). Generic templates for multi-page “light tech” communication books have been carefully designed to support genuine communication for a variety of functions throughout the day. These templates may be customized for a range of access methods and other individual needs. The newer electronic versions available through Apps will also be briefly demonstrated.
Alternative Access ------- JUNE 11th, 2022 CANCELLED DUE TO NOT ENOUGH REGISTRANTS
This session is designed for a wide variety of participants, including: speech pathologists, teachers, parents, and professionals specializing in AAC. The content will build on the information relating to the purpose, design principles, intervention strategies and use of PODD communication books covered in the two-day introductory workshop.
PODD for SGDs ---------- JUNE 12th, 2022 CANCELLED DUE TO NOT ENOUGH REGISTRANTS
This session will focus on the design features of PODD page sets to suit speech generating devices. The content will build on the information relating to the purpose, design principles, intervention strategies and use of PODD communication books covered in the two-day introductory workshop.
Ever wondered why PODD pages sets for speech generating devices are not direct copies of the corresponding language level of a PODD communication book? This workshop will explain the similarities, differences and variations in vocabulary organizations needed to capitalize on, and accommodate for, the innate differences between paper books and electronic devices.

Purchase for the Introduction and Alternative Access. That ticket is discounted at $375.Purchase for all three trainings/4 days, including PODD for SGDs. That ticket is discounted at $500.If you are just interested in attending either the Alternative Access and PODD for SGDs days, you can purchase for those days as well. Those single day tickets are $150.
