Run this script then use the power button to shutdown your system(Thenormal power Off/restart/ with sudo privilege also didn't fix). Idon't know how but this fixed my system. This will solve the issueuntil you boot to windows again, then you have to redo the process. Idon't know if there is any other methods available to fix this issuepermanently, but this is the only method that worked for me aftertrying multiple methods.
Trying this, at the next boot audio works but if I boot on windows, and then to ubuntu again, the audio is gone again, as the guy says in the link that I quoted.I tried putting the script in crontab (even root's crontab), to execute at every boot but if a boot to windows is involved, then still no audio on ubuntu next time.Other quirk thing is that sometime, when I boot to windows, audio is broken there too and I need to reinstall the realtek drivers there.
Then save it, make it executable, and run it, then reboot and the Audio will be fixed. Further, it's just a temporary solution and it reverts back to original once you boot to Windows and come back to your Linux distro. In that case, just execute it again and reboot and it'll be fixed again. Hope it helps.
I have a ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS AC-HES with a amd ryzen 7 5800x that the argb doesn't work there are 2 headers and no matter which one I plug into the argb wont work. I have tried to uninstall the arora sync and reinstalling it but that didn't fix it, and I don't know if this will affect it but my realtek hd audio always tells me cant connect to rpc. again i have uninstalled all of the drivers and reinstalled them several times even going as far as to ddu all audio drivers. Is there anything I can do to fix this? or is the only hope to reinstall windows
I just got a new Asus Sabertooth X79, which is a really nice board, but apparently it has essentially no linux support beyond the basics. I am trying to get Alsa audio working and having trouble. OSS works fine, but I can't use it with either Chrome or Firefox so it is pretty useless.
That doesn't help. Pointing it to any of the pre-installed kernel sources doesn't work either. I am not sure what to do.... I am pretty sure I have all the right kernel sources, but it isn't finding version.h, and so I still have no sound.
Ok, I feel stupid now. I have tried for days and days to get this working and had no luck. After I followed your suggestions it just worked. Well, everything but google-chrome. When I switched to Chromium, then it all worked, but now my extensions aren't syncing. Annoying.
Just a follow up to this for anyone with the same issue. I ended up installing alsa, alsa-oss, and pulseaudio-alsa, and then configuring them with an Alsa Mixer (in this case xfce4-mixer, but there are others) and Pulseaudio Volume Control (pavucontrol). In Pulseaudio Volume Control, I disabled 'HD-Audio Generic', as it is for the HDMI output of my graphics card, and set 'Built-in Audio' to 'Analog Stereo Output'. I then unmuted the sound both in this application and in the Alsa Mixer application. After a system restart, sound seems to work fine everywhere.
When I connected my audio interface to another computer, it worked fine, and since the above problem did not occur, it became clear that the problem was due to a driver conflict between the Intel SST Audio controller and the audio interface.
Has anyone had the same problem as me because someone connected the external audio interface to a computer with an intel SST audio controller? And if anyone has solved this problem, please let me know the solution.
I got Scarlett 2i2 2nd gen and have had some issues on my desktop comp, that my computer wouldn't start, cuz of power distribution in BIOS. I couldn't have connected anything, not even a simple webcam - cuz of the USB. Then just distributed power in BIOS and no issues at all. And installed as well ASIO4All - which I don't use actually, but I use 2i2 only for Pro Tools, not as default audio device, there were some issues when you shared the Scarlett as a default audio device for any sound.
Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".

I do recommend you to check with the laptop manufacturer since this could be a compatibility issue, and they are the ones that can provide you with a version of the Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) fully compatible with your device.
kang86h, it appears you have received a fairly generic support response here which is a little frustrating, intel should be well aware of the issue by now.
There appears to be very little information regarding how the SST driver interacts with the USB Audio driver. What I can say though is it appears the SST driver intercepts and modifies the USB stream on the way from the device to the/from the the audio driver. Presumably this is to run the audio stream though the SST DSP on the I5 - I can see this at a very low level (USB bus trace). From what I can see there is very little documentation of how this driver is supposed to interact with other drivers
In many cases this interaction is broken for USB Audio devices - quite often leading to audible artefacts. The only workaround we currently have so far is to disable the SST driver - correct behaviour is restored once this is done. However, this may cause other issues such as the built in audio of the laptop failing to operate by the sounds of things.
Now I am struggling with Intel SST in a new Lenovo Legion S7 with Windows 11. It has broken my audio setup completely. It is blocking Novation ASIO driver for myX-Station. I am starting to fix it up. What crap is that SST??? Realtek audio in my old laptop worked like a charm.
