1. Introduction

Samarth Technical Research and Innovations ("we", "us", or "our") built Astrum as a free, ad-free mobile application. During its current early-access phase, all features are fully unlocked at no cost. We plan to introduce an optional premium tier in a future update; core features will remain free and users will be notified in advance of any pricing changes. This Privacy Policy explains what information Astrum collects, how it is used, where it is stored, and the rights you have regarding that information.

By installing or using Astrum you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the application.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

Birth Profile Data:
When you save a birth profile in the Profile tab, Astrum stores the following fields locally on your device:

• Full name (optional)

• Date and time of birth

• Geographic coordinates of birth location (latitude and longitude)

• UTC offset of birth location

• Location name (city/region as entered or resolved)

• Blood group (optional, solely for the blood-type astrology feature)

This information is saved exclusively in an encrypted Hive database on your device's private storage. It is not uploaded to any server, cloud service, or third party at any time.

Reading History:
Birth data entered for one-off chart readings (CHART tab) is saved locally in reading history so you can revisit past results without re-entering data. This history is also stored solely on your device.

2.2 Location Information

Geocoding during location search:
When you use the in-app location search to find a birth place, Astrum passes the search text to the device's operating-system-level geocoding service (Android Geocoder API). This query is handled by Google's standard geocoding infrastructure as part of the Android platform. Astrum itself does not transmit your current GPS position to any service.

GPS / precise location:
Astrum requests ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION permissions only to optionally pre-fill the birth-location field with your current location when you tap "Use my current location." The resolved coordinates are immediately stored in the local Hive database as described above. Astrum does not track, log, or share your live GPS position at any time.

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

Astrum does not collect:

• Device identifiers (IMEI, Android ID, advertising ID)

• IP addresses or network information

• Crash logs or diagnostics sent to our servers

• Usage analytics or behavioral telemetry

• Purchase history (the app is currently free; if a premium tier is introduced in the future, any transaction data will be handled solely by Google Play and will never be received or stored by us)

• Any biometric data

3. How We Use Your Information

The birth data and reading history you enter is used solely to:

1. Compute astrological and numerological calculations entirely on-device.

2. Display personalised Panchanga readings in the Daily tab.

3. Display Vimshottari Dasha forecasts in the Predict tab.

4. Allow you to revisit past readings through the History feature.

5. Enable Love Compatibility comparisons between two sets of birth data.

All of these operations happen entirely within the application process on your device. No calculation or display function requires sending data off-device.

4. Data Storage and Security

All user data is persisted using Hive, a lightweight NoSQL database stored in the application's sandboxed private directory (/data/data/com.satri.astrology.psychic.astrum/). This directory is:

• Inaccessible to other applications on a standard (non-rooted) Android device.

• Removed automatically when you uninstall Astrum.

• Not backed up to Google Drive by default (we have disabled android:allowBackup for sensitive data).

We apply standard Android security practices; however, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure on a device you share with others or that is physically compromised.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with any third party, including advertising networks, data brokers, social media platforms, or analytics providers.

We may disclose information only if required by applicable law, court order, or governmental authority — and only to the minimum extent required.

6. Children's Privacy

Astrum is rated Everyone on the Google Play Store and does not target children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because all data is stored locally and never transmitted to us, we have no mechanism to identify the age of users. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that a child has entered personal information into the app, they may simply delete the app or clear its data via Android Settings → Apps → Astrum → Clear Data.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Because Astrum stores all data locally on your device and we never receive a copy, you retain full control at all times:

• Access: All data you have entered is visible within the app itself (Profile tab, History screen).

• Correction: You can edit your saved profile at any time via Profile → Edit Profile.

• Deletion: You can delete your profile via Profile → Delete Profile, or delete individual readings from the History screen. Uninstalling the app removes all data.

• Portability: There is no server-side data to export; all data resides on your device.

If you have questions about data held by Google (arising from geocoding or font downloads), you should consult Google's Privacy Policy and use Google's data request tools.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the app or applicable law. Any updated policy will be posted at the URL provided on the Play Store listing and the effective date at the top of this document will be revised. Continued use of Astrum after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
