present to you
Are you passionate about the cosmos? Would you like to present your knowledge, and gain more information about astrophysics? Wait no more! To make the most even out of adverse situations, Stellar Universe in collaboration and SciRox (Science Club, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar) bring you an online presentation-cum-talk meet. AstroRetreat '20 is an online platform for students and enthusiasts of astrophysics and cosmology to showcase their work in the field.
Invited Talks
Topic : Introduction to Radio Astronomy and SWAN
Prof. Avinash Deshpande is an Indian astrophysicist and is affiliated to IUCAA and IIT Kanpur. He has been involved in a number of projects, including Sky Watch Array Network (SWAN), a collaborative student-science radio astronomy project, apart from many other works undertaken by RRI. He is credited with the development of a receiver for high time-resolution studies of pulsars at low radio frequencies. Prof. Deshpande is a recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards by CSIR, Govt. of India, for his contributions to physical sciences in 2002.
Topic : Gravitational Lensing
Prof. Jasjeet Bagla is an Indian astrophysicist and is affiliated to Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali. His research interests include various aspects of cosmology. His recent work has been on gravitational clustering, cosmological N-Body simulations, dark energy, physics and probes of the high redshift universe. Much of his work involves large computer simulations, and this requires access to high performance computing facilities
