Astro Cats

We are planning to be at the Playa in 2023. This year Burning Man theme is Animalia, and it will be on on August 27 thru September 4, 2023. This will be our 11th year together as a camp since our humble beginning in 2011, with only 11 members. Over  the years we have grown steadily to a peak of 100 in 2019.

From the beginning, the camp was composed of colleagues, friends, former students, foreign  visitors, and brave new people who wanted to join us. The strength of our camp has always been  the diversity of our backgrounds, cultures, and talents. 

Over the years, the camp has evolved from a loose group of friends, colleagues, and former  students in the SF Bay Area into a medium-size camp with members from different parts of the  US and the world. 

We started with two small sun-shades as our camp lounge, and now we have a container, a kitchen trailer, a 500-gallon water tank, a 250-gallon grey water tank, a solar electric system, a WiFi  support service, and a lounge area for a bar … all in less than a decade of transformation.
